Doctor Who S2 Episodes 1+2! (Patreon Exclusive)

I'm dubbing these 2 episodes the furry episodes. Really enjoying David Tennants version of the Doctor so far. Lots of laughs being had. In this video I'm reacting to the episodes "New Earth" and "Tooth and Claw".

Might i add on another spinoff show the sarah jane adventures season 1 premiered just after season 3 of doctor who. It's aimed at a younger audience but i'd say anyone can watch it really. There's some episodes in sja that make doctor who look like childs play in comparison.

The Baker's Ruview

I got the impression that a huge part of why queen Vicky was so upset was the Doctor and Rose's attitude. People were dying, literally sacrificing themselves, and they're acting like it's the best thing ever, like they're on a trip to Disney Land.

Queen Victoria had many more titles, the British Empire was the largest empire in history, around the time of the episode, it ruled a quarter of the Earth’s surface and about the same of the world’s population. It was said that “The sun never set on the British Empire”, which was true because they had colonized in every time zone and were the most powerful people in the world for over a century

1:19:50 oh she mourned her husband for three decades... there relationship was famously loving... they even invented the idea of weekend holidays when they would run off to there private villas to be alone together

T0m4002

1:08:03 she was empress of the British empire... which at this point was most of the planet... for better or for worse... in this case worse

,,Good luck. *insert episode title* and you're dead" - My Whovian brain is wired in mysterious ways. 🤣

There are a couple things I will add. I’m sorry if you already figured this out, but here it is, if you’re confused about something and the episode isnt over. Hang on, they will almost always explain everything by the end EVERYTHING gets explained eventually And 2 with Doctor Who, the issue is aliens, always aliens, even if it looks supernatural or fantasy, it’s aliens behind it. Always, Good luck. Glad you’re loving my favorite show!

the spinoffs shows aren't really a required watch to understand Doctor Who but if you do plan on watching it (whether for a reaction or just on ur own time), season 1 of Torchwood came out between season 2 and 3 of Doctor Who. although I will say it's a lot more mature. Doctor Who is a family show but Torchwood is definitely intended for an adult audience

I think the Second Doctor/Jamie were my first Doctor/Companion ship. not ever bc I didn't start classic who until after Modern, but I mean like.... chronologically lmao

When the Doctor said ,,Im Dr James McCrimmon from the University of Edinburgh" (I don't rewatch early episodes so I totally forgot about this line and watched GO a year or so ago, way after I watched this DW episode) my mind immidiatly went - ,,Edinburgh? Oh dear God its... Everyday"

The brain was never INSIDE the skin, it was always sitting right there on that cart. The skin is just skin, but she is the brain

It is SUPER early, but is there a chance that you will be reacting to the spin-off shows? Going in paralell to the main show starting from Series 3 all the way to the beginning of Series 7.

Series 2 has a few of my favorite episodes! I look forward to you seeing them. Series 3 and 4 though are probably especially my personal favorite seasons from Doctor Who.

Matthew

they've brought back the behind the scenes stuff in the new era as "doctor who unleashed"! there are doctor who unleashed episodes for all the episodes from 2023 onwards as far as i know!

Luke

It is so nice that you already love the Face of Boe. Even tho as he said it, he will only meet the Doctor one more time.😢

I love the bits where he gets excited to explain what's going on. The energy. The thrill. Even in the direst of circumstances he's thrilled to learn something new, even if that something is about to kill him. 👼

I wrote a whole comment about the difference between Britain, the UK and England, but then figured that actually, the Welsh and the Scottish aren't at all fond of the royals, so "Queen of England" would be fine by us. Haha

Cassandra is doing Cockney rhyming slang because she was told Rose spoke Cockney. In Cockney rhyming slang they use phrases that rhyme with the actual word they are saying. So “I can’t Adam and Eve it” is actually slang for “I can’t believe it.” Rose isn’t really cockney, but she has a working-class London accent which is like adjacent to Cockney but not as specific a dialect.

Glad you're enjoying this season so far! I remember when I was a kid I had nightmares after the hospital episode because I was scared the patients were going to come after me and infect me! :D

Rebecca H

With regards to Victorias rule, she was the monarch in charge during pretty much the peak of the British empire and the industrial revolution.

32:23 Morgan stymied by rage.. I hope. Nope... just mild discomfort. 37:53 Oh! There's the rage. Valid! 58:44 My esteemed individual, all the best sci-fi is an examination of the human condition in one way or another. Alright, I'll shush and try to watch the rest without commenting. Just so many moments I had to pipe in from the peanut gallery while watching.

Dinker

I'm having so much fun rewatching this with you.

You should probably get used to a lot of mythological fantasy creatures actually being aliens. That's kind of a thing that Doctor Who just does. Oh, and David Tennant have admitted that the Scottish accent he used in this episode was actually not his normal speaking voice, but more of an exaggeration to make it sound like he's faking it. Which...to be fair, requires some talent I'd say.

Flufux

David and Billie (The Doctor and Rose) had a LOT of fun doing the New Earth episode according to a Doctor Who confidential episode, those are like behind the scenes type things for each episode. They don't do those anymore, I think they stopped after David Tennant's era. Great reaction! Looking forward to next week :D

NatMcK7

It makes a lot of sense why David was cast as Scrooge McDuck in the new Ducktales, given his real speaking voice is Scottish😊. I really like how funny he is. "Am I being rude again? Yup." 🤣🤣🤣. I feel that That shouldn't be as funny as it is😂🤣

Okay so... Torchwood is waiting for the Doctor alright.

I love Tooth and Claw as an action episode. But the next collection of episodes should contain my favourite stand-alone episode of all 15 seasons (Season 2, Episode 4). - Morgan, I do believe you are smitten. - "Not exactly NHS" - NHS = National Health Service, the UK free healthcare system. - "I'm Dr James McCrimmon from the township of Balamory" - James McCrimmon was the name of the Second Doctor's companion (1966). Balamory is the fictional setting for a Scottish children's TV show. - Unrelated to its role in the story, Torchwood was also the internal BBC codename for Doctor Who while filming (it's an anagram). - The Victorian Empire covered a quarter of all land and Queen Victoria was the head of it (and had the temperament for it). The Empire was the world super-power of its time. - The children's caricature of Queen Victoria is her looking grumpy and imperious and going "We are not amused." - When her husband Prince Albert died, Queen Victoria was stricken with intense grief for the rest of her life. She withdrew from public life for 10 years and never wore anything but black again. - The Koh-i-noor was the Crown Jewels' crown jewel and was looted from India. You can see it in the Tower of London. - "You fucketh with the stars" - lol

when the doctor introduces himself in tooth and claw, he says he's "dr james mccrimmon from balamory". balamory is a fictional scottish town from a kids tv show at the time (i used to watch it when i was really little!) and james mccrimmon is a reference to jamie mccrimmon, a scottish companion of the second doctor from 1960s classic who, who is one of the longest running doctor who companions! he's one of my personal all time favourite doctor who characters so it's always fun to see him get referenced here :) jamie was very sweet and protective but also a bit of a scaredy cat sometimes, and he loved to cling to and hug other people a lot, especially the doctor. jamie is my doctor who blorbo lol i love him so much, and if anyone reading this wants to see some clips of him and the doctor here's a compilation: https://youtu.be/bHSe55C0CGk?si=m_ujysCvLpwZ78go (can you tell im obsessed with this silly little show lol 😅)

Luke

"adam and eve it", means "believe it" its cockney rhyming slang, and believe it or not people did in fact used to talk like that and some still do, its a british thing

Luke Teasdale

It was in a jar in the bottom
