Mar test

so i tried drawing without 3d again and just let the style choose it's self to see what would come up.  a friend of mine said it looked like something Hergé would draw.  and that is high praise to me

Not very familiar with Hergé, but i'm familiar with Meziérès which this "sort of" resembles when he wanted to do serious characters. But yes this is a very common style for european cartoon from when i was young. Today they like more cartoonish styles. Comical features had always been exaggerated except when trying to draw something serious, unless it was supposed to be comically serious, so protagonists usually got a "neutral style" in case they wanted to be used both for comical and tragic pieces, which was not uncommon when i was young. Characters would go all over the place and mood be damned, most artists knew their job as painters and as cartoonists, but knew very little of storytelling, hence why very few names are remembered. But on the other hand that "unkempt writing" also meant that characters could show a very wide range of emotions which showcased the full range of abilites for the artist. A true cartoonist would be able to put his character in a serious bloodbath in one place then 10 pages later transform it into a gruesome but funny "grottesque" then 10 pages later it would be a love story, 10 pages later it would be a space opera, and then the volume would end and you realized you just spent an ungodly amount of money for 40 very well drawn pages in hardcover with a story that made very little sense but felt like being thrust in the wind.
