2020-12-29 09:47:33 +0000 UTCThis was not based on a true story but it does have similarities to the fight between Muhammed Ali and Chuck Wepner. So much in fact that Chuck Wepner actually sued Stallone over this movie. I think they reached a settlement but Stallone to this day denies that Rocky was based on that fight. Also, keep in mind that this was the 70's. It was a very different era in terms of boxing, which is why it's so brutal. Things that you see here such as the cutting of the swelling to let the blood out would never happen in boxing today. The doctor at ringside would immediately stop the fight if he saw something like that.

2020-12-28 08:16:44 +0000 UTCBecause the franchise became this huge pop culture phenomenon, people might forget how critically acclaimed this first Rocky film was, earning 10 Oscar nominations, and winning 3 Oscars, including best picture of the year.

2020-12-28 05:46:54 +0000 UTCI do have a list of under the radar, and hidden gems of movies, and shows that I haven't mentioned yet, because they would probably blow your minds :p. I collect a lot of movies, and I wouldn't mind sending you either physical, or digital media if you wish; this may imply an unfair bias, but it's so sad there are such compelling art in the form moving ideas that so many people miss because of time.
