Underdog Movie POLL- VOTE and Request here! :)

It is time for another Underdog Movie POLL! Thank you for all your critiques on how to make this POLL better! Rules here are not set in stone while we work on this POLL together... and I plan to have this POLL every other week if all works out. We have so many rare requests and we do not include 'Popular Runner Up' Requests here. This isn't meant to be a second Popular Movie POLL. Some movies that are more well known are rare requests (here and on YouTube).

Here are a few debates addressed to me so far:

The Thing is a rare request, but almost WON a MAIN POLL months ago, so is that now considered a Popular request?

Maze Runner is very rare too, but the title is more well known I think, so is that also considered popular?

Dunkirk has a ton of requests, but hasn't won a POLL yet, so I believe that is considered Popular.. but many are saying that is an Underdog request. There are SO many movies with this same debate.

I am listening to all of you and will adapt to what works best for everyone. There are a ton of different opinions on what this Underdog POLL should have in it and not. I thought it was fair to strictly put rare requests here from our Patrons and YouTube fans (not including votes since that can dramatically change each week). I rotated some out from last time due to the debates. Let's see what you think! :)

Hope this makes sense! I'm trying to give every small request a fighting chance here. Thanks for reading and leave your thoughts below! Thanks for your support and happy voting! :)

Sometimes the poll results make me think back of the MTV Movie Awards. Where they'd have a category like, "best kiss" and there would be legit drama clips mixed in with comedy movie clips, like a guy being licked on the mouth by a dog or something else similarly silly and the comedy movie clip would win. xD I still say, including such culturally impactful movies like "Batman", "Karate Kid" and "Gremlins" or big blockbusters like "Dunkirk" (made over half a billion dollars in the Box Office) in the "Underdog" poll is pretty counterproductive and also seems to be confusing people making requests for similar type movies here.

This the Underdog Poll and you should only make Underdog Poll requests here. See the title? "Underdog MOVIE Poll AND Requests here." Rocky may be about an underdog, but it's still a popular movie, so is The Godfather (which got TONS of votes on the main poll and only lost to The 5th Element last time it was on the main Popular vote.) You should request these on the Popular Poll. :)

Rocky, Whiplash, An Officer and a Gentleman, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Doctor Zhivago(1965), The Godfather

Alright I'm going to be honest, I'm annoyed that "Gremlins" is beating "Heat", but whatever, lol. This demographic is too bizarre.

Darius.

How is Gremlins beating Heat? Omg

Suggestion: About Time (2013). Wonderful film.

a beautiful mind is such a good movie!!

It really seems like it should be common sense. If something is requested a lot by a lot of people where it keeps appearing on the main poll in consecutive polls it's popular. If something isn't requested a lot by a lot of people and only once-in-a-while appears on the poll or doesn't appear on the poll at all, it's NOT popular and is an actual underdog. I mean it's in it's definition; Underdog - a person or thing not thought capable of competing in a fight or contest. The Storm Akima crew though seem to regard popular, competitive movies that get a competitive share of votes (like Karate Kid, Batman, Gremlins, Dunkirk and to lesser extent Heat) that just don't happen to win the main poll "underdogs" for some reason.

I think that you should go by the number of requests you get for each movie, which is underdog and which is popular. I consider Maze Runner a popular movie but it doesn't seem to be requested a lot so it won't get the votes against stuff like Get Out and Shawshank Redeption. Most likely it seems whichever movie has the most requests will get the most votes and vice versa. I know it doesn't always work that way lol but should be the most simpl root for now. I voted Love Actually, we need more Alan Rickman and Liam Neeson on this channel lol.

I can't imagine reading the title "Gremlins" and thinking it's going to be a movie about the heartwarming aspects of Christmas. :P

I'm rooting for Con Air. One of the most entertaining movies.

Dawn, regarding Gremlins: Seeing as how it's got a commanding lead, it might be good if you (and Mom/Kim) had a general idea of the movie’s tone going in. While the setup seems like typical Spielberg fantasy, it’s essentially a light horror movie with streaks of dark comedy. In fact, Gremlins (along with Temple of Doom) was the reason for the creation of the PG-13 rating. Families went in expecting E.T. and instead got, uh, “the microwave scene.” So please don’t have Mom thinking it’s going to be a heartwarming Christmas movie. (Having said that, I hope you eventually get around to Gremlins 2. Now that IS a wacky romp of a movie.)

Black Swan , No Country For Old Men , Argo , Apollo 13 , Good Will Hunting , The Da Vinci Code , Captain Phillips , Cast Away , The Trial Of The Chicago 7 , and There Will Be Blood will be good underdog picks .

Hey Dawn, if you’re still wondering about other poll ideas. Maybe this could be one suggestion: Pick the top 5 (or top 10) of the most votes movies in the main poll and let the Patreons vote for that? It may be a little redundant, but just an idea! 👍🏼

OMG The Greatest Showman IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME,,, LIKE EVER...... LOVE THE MOVIE AND MUSIC..... YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT YOU HAVE TO.OMG I`m gona cry

Brandon Jensen - May the force be with you

Really, those constant Popular Poll runner-ups should be thrown into a Random choice lottery and the Underdog Pool should be reserved for actual underdog movies (that can't even compete on the Popular poll unlike the constant runner-ups.) It'd make the most logical sense, since the number of competing runner-ups on the Popular poll always number between 2-4 movies (which makes a nice small lottery for Random choices) from the total poll and the number of movies that don't compete and only get one cycling shot at getting on the Popular poll once every Blue moon always number in the 10s - which would make sense to put them in a whole different poll, especially titled "Underdog."

It looks like De Niro and Pacino may lose to those little monsters with the heaps of 80s mainstream nostalgia behind them. 😅

Dunkirk, Good Will Hunting, The Social Network, Reservoir Dogs will never win the mainstream poll and should be on this poll! Hope they watch one of those films

Pinhead Larry

Could Trading Places (1983) be added to the list in the future?

DDJ

Y’all should react to Whiplash

Caleb Ebner

Good Underdog poll and it will just take some more time to address whether a movie is an underdog or not and I think it's important to recognize that it will never be perfect but that's alright. Looks like a race between Gremlins, Heat, and Treasure Planet. Here are 5 Underdog movie requests: The Sum of All Fears (Ben Affleck, Morgan Freeman) Breakdown (Kurt Russell) Meet Joe Black (Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins) Falling Down (Michael Douglas) Bad Moms (Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell)- Not sure if this was suggested before but this would be an enjoyable reaction because it's a raunchy comedy that focuses on the stress and expectations of mothers. There is also a sequel, "A Bad Mom's Christmas".

Please bring back Willow

Mario Ramirez

Well, the Underdog poll gives many of the less popular or overlooked movies a better chance at a reaction. I'm sure at least some of your requests have not received much attention yet.

Justin S.

Heat! Come on guys, please. De Niro vs Pacino. It doesn’t get better than that.

Shehab Dawoud

"We Bought a Zoo", would've been a great watch; a shame it's clearly being overshadowed by these other Movies.

Darius.

The 2nd Underdog Poll is a lot better than the first Underdog Poll; as evidenced by the wider almost equal dispersal of votes. I'd still be shocked if Gremlins (A popular Spielberg production with TONS of mainstream 80's nostalgia) or Heat (a popular crime thriller with all those big names that's been on the main poll multiple times) doesn't win. It's not as bad as Batman and Karate Kid (ATM) on the first UPD were they were the 2 runaway vote-getters, but it'd be nice if there weren't always at least 2 stand-out biggies included in every Underdog poll.

Welp, descriptions don't seem to help so: My girl 1991 Benny & Joon 1993 A League Of Their Own 1992 Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004 Freaky Friday 2003

Nice, a little hope for the underdog movies! Love it

Lee Salvemini

GATTACA is a perfect movie for this channel. Hope it wins someday soon!

zammmerjammer

The Holiday is pretty wholesome and fun (plus Jack Black being adorable!). Glad to see it's at least on the list, though I don't think it'll win any time soon. (Personally I think it's better than Love Actually but that's my opinion and I still like L A)

RationallySassy

been waiting for knights tales for so long :(

benjamin freeman

Oooo you should definitely watch the Count of Monte Cristo then V for Vendetta on the other poll

Yea come on guys!

matthew berry

I wish, love actually won... just to see them reacting to one of the most powerful scenes, when Emma Thompson gets emotional in her bed room, one of the best acting scenes ever made, simple but strong, Everyone that have watch this movie would say the same.

Joao

Wow, you definitely need to watch Love Actually in time for christmas!

Kevin

I think I might be the only person on the planet that loves Passengers. (I'm not even sure how it even ended up on a poll, as I don't remember anyone requesting it.) I actually saw it in theaters twice before I checked it out on Rotten Tomatoes. It was then that I discovered that both critics and audiences had rejected it. That aside, I actually *do* think the ladies would enjoy it, if for no other reason than they've enjoyed both Pratt and Lawrence in other movies.

WastedPo

People are voting for passenger over Love actually.... wow I’m sad

Joao

Love Actually the best Christmas movie! Let’s go Patreons

Joao

I’m personally not a fan of an underdog poll. But whatever suits the majority is fine by me 👍🏼

Sohail Jafar

LA LA LAND PLEASE! 😁😁🙈
