You say it was disappointing but you don't actually explain why..

Shehab Dawoud

You all almost got it. A lady in the YouTube comments broke it down beautifully. Also... **Spoiler Alert** the help was the grandparents. The grandfather was a track star hence the running at Chris. The grandmother wanted to be young and beautiful again that's why she was always staring at the mirror. The family is a cult that takes black bodies to live out their lives. But in all honesty you must watch it more than once to catch everything.

Omg, can’t wait to see your reactions to this film! Honestly, I watched this the first time last year. Whenever there is a “hype” for any film, I don’t know why I always try avoid until I’m interested. But so glad I watched it then because I enjoyed it thoroughly, with no high expectation. Fantastic film and twists. ^o^

Daryl

Okay, this was my first time watching & honestly, it's not as great as I was expecting. When this Movie first came out, I was adamant, there was so much hype around it. So many folks kept talking about how different it was, how it was "changing up" the Horror Genre, how it has good Social Commentary about ethnical relations. Still, I have to say, I'm a little disappointed, thought it was going to be amazing for how hyped up it was. To be fair, this is what happens when Movies get talked up so much, to the point where expectations are so high, people are ultimately going to be let down. What makes this worse, is my background in Filmmaking; what I might find amazing, may not be your definition. People raved about this Movie, I'll admit, there were some Techniques I thought were used well, but in the end, just didn't find it as great as everyone else. In my informed opinion, it was alright. I'd give it a '78%', which is a 'C+'. Not bad, just not great. Best moment for me, ironically, is the Ending, the Theatrical Version, not the Original one. I agree with Jordan's decision on creating a Hero & not a Tragedy. **EDIT** @Shehab Dawoud: Hey, the Application wouldn't let me respond, so I know this is late & you may not care anymore, but every time I tried, just kept removing it. After a while I just gave up, still, thought I'd come back to it anyway. Keeping it short and simple: If you take the Horror-genre out of the equation, could you really find this realistic? Being a Black-American Man myself, I do not find this convincing. Almost half the Character interactions I find unnatural. The hypnotism stuff feels very heavy-handed & the Plot Progression feels forced too. There's some stuff about genetic marketability, but I won't get into that, lol. Nonetheless, this is not Oscar worthy, not bad, just not great.

Darius.

Glad you guys were able to react to this. You might have to react to a video or 2 explaining the film and the hidden messages. I had to watch this movie a few times to catch the subtle messages. Shout out to Josie for explaining the main point of the film. This movies touches on a real life horror that Black people are major victims of that gets overlooked on a mainstream level, Organ Harvesting!!

David Martin

The other guy kills himself because the flash will only temporarily bring him out of the sunken place so this is chance to end things.

Kevin

This was amazing

Erica Paul

And in reality, a proper police investigation would lead to evidence of obvious malpractice going on in the house and Chris would ultimately be proven at least not guilty of any kind of murder. It was all self-defense.

Mark Bigwood

The daughter towards the end; separating the fruit loops from the "white" milk was genius. lol

Darnell Holland

Screaming at my tv “no one is brainwashed!”

Fraser

Yes, by "his eye" they meant his talent as a photographer.

TibrisG

The happy ending is how Chris wishes it would have ended when in reality there is no way it would be his friend coming out of that cop car lol.

So, there's a lot going on in this movie and I think you guys missed the main point. It was less about brainwashing and more about body transference. They were taking black people, auctioning them off, and transferring the winners into the victim's body. Basically, nobody in the film was "brainwashed" so to speak. The victim is still in their body but struggling for control. It's why you see them occasionally come out at certain times.

Mom was on point this reaction.

Carlos Hurtado

Fun reaction everyone! Really enjoyed. Tagging onto Josie's comment - people weren't brainwashed necessarily - the white peoples consciousness was put into the black peoples bodies. The one guy said some people want to be more fit, more cool, etc. So the white people party was people seeing if they wanted to buy Chris' body, because they would Become Chris if they won the action. The blind guy didn't just want his eyes (well he did but), he would get Chris' eyes by being put into Chris' body (his consciousness into Chris' body).

Just watched your reaction to this and enjoyed it very much. There's one thing you missed about the maid and Walt though, probably because you guys were talking over some lines. When Chris took the car and Rose went out she said "grandma" then the maid threw herself in front of the car and she was like "you ruined my family". That means the maid IS her actual grandma and they were her real family she was just in a different body. Same for Walt she said "get him grandpa" because he is her actual grandpa. Remember in the beginning when the dad was giving Chris a house tour, he mentioned his father, Rose's grandpa who lost to a black person in the Olympics and he "almost got over it"? Well he never did so he created this procedure taking black people's bodies by transplanting one's own brain and that's why he was Forrest Gumping in that scene cuz he used to be an athlete back in the day. And they were talking like old white people. Anyway I'm glad you guys reacted to this movie I hope you react to more thriller/horror movies like this, without much gore or jump scares but with good storylines. P.S Sorry about my english it's not my mother language

Josie

First time watching this, let’s go!
