Classic Who "Delta and the Bannermen" Part 3 Full Reaction!

Classic Who "Delta and the Bannermen" Part 3 Full Reaction!

Not being able to tell if you adore the story or if you’re dumbfounded seems a reasonable response to this one. And ultimately, as you say, this story was something. Fucked if I know what it was beyond being something. See we both were a bit tested by the American agents. Spent the whole time expecting the one guy to get cacked and then Roger Rabbit would get framed for it. Fail to see how the booby traps on the TARDIS were a problem considering the literal God of Death that’s presently piggy backing on the old girl. Yes, goal in life is to find someone who loves me like the one gentleman loves his bees. The music during the bee scenes did sound very much like those educational videos from school in the nineties, so there was an odd charm to it. Likewise, the music of this in general, lovely to see you dancing along with it. Nice how the day is saved in part with honey. (Not that one, alas.) You yell at the bad guys, “Don’t resist! Your firearms are useless against them!” The one fella took a leap in just assuming that ingesting the fluid would have no ill-effects on the poor dumb schmuck. See you held the similar thought. But he ends up all right. Well, don’t we feel like the fucking assholes then? You make mention that the singing still sounds more agreeable than the Buffy scream at the end of Hush, to which I throw my hands up, and say, “I don’t even understand the reference.” All in all, just a completely bonkers story that it’s just wonderful to see that it was a great experience for you, and you had a great time. Thanks for the fun reaction, Jess.

Yeah, that one would make a longer list of 1971. Not quite top ten, but pretty close to it. The ironical Whovian casting is fun. And those that you list, that’s just good times for all with that cast.

Not much to say about this story in particular, but I have to talk about how I just saw the film Nicholas and Alexandra, which is amazing just in itself but especially fun for Doctor Who fans. A then unknown Tom Baker plays Rasputin, 50 years before we'd learn he was actually the Master. And Nicholas Romanov is played by Michael Jayston, aka the Valeyard, so their positions are basically swapped. It's actually one of the biggest "future famous stars" movies ever, also having early roles by Brian Cox, Ian Holm, Steven Berkoff, Roy Dotrice, and Julian Glover.

"Oh, I haven't used it in over forty years, but it'll still put the wind up a Bannerman.", Burton, "Delta and the Bannermen" It's been about thirty-eight years (not forty) since this story was broadcast. It's not the best thing Classic Who has ever done - but I'm sure, as you said, that it's one you'll always remember! "Oh, I don't know. We've been working together so long I've completely lost track of all time. But I remember this one especially well. 1932, a hot summer and abundant cherry blossom. A classic honey.", Goronwy, "Delta and the Bannermen" Goronwy is sweet - and a man of taste. I know he was introduced in last week's block but he has more impact in this part. Goronwy is played by veteran Welsh actor Hugh Lloyd. I remember him best from his regular appearances in the Hancock shows (radio and TV) - most memorably "The Blood Donor". And when Goronwy's reading his book on bees, Mel and Weismuller just take his table away - and he's cool with it! "Head 'em up! Roll 'em out!", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen" When Ray is on the little scooter you can see that Sylvester has to kick start it. "Once inside, you will kill everyone except the young princess. I will deal with her personally.", Gavrok, "Delta and the Bannermen" Don Henderson said he enjoyed filming this story and suggested to the producer that his character could have had a twin brother so Henderson might make a return. "I can't condone this foolishness, but then, love has never been known for its rationality.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen" Billy drinks the some of Delta's hatching vials and starts to change - and he does it because of love - without thinking of the consequences ... Ok. "Well, that should hold them all the way back to Mars, or wherever you're going.", Weismuller, "Delta and the Bannermen" I'm also still not sure, after all this time, why Weismuller and Hawk are in this story - but they're fun. "Oh, I almost forgot. Will you look after the Vincent for me?" Billy, "Delta and the Bannermen" Will Ray ever get over Billy? Well, she's gets the classic motorcycle - she'll be ok. "Love is the answer. Here's to the future.", Song, "Delta and the Bannermen" This song is so, so familiar to me - it was on that "The Doctor Who 25th Anniversary Album" CD. It was composed by the series composer, Keff McCulloch, who was also involved with the re-recording of the vintage songs we hear at the dance and over the camp speakers. I believe this is your satellite, gentlemen.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen"
