Vellum 101 - Sphere Packing A Surface

We've been awed by Kohei Nawa's Pixcell artworks: http://kohei-nawa.net/works/pixcell - and of course we thought this would be a walk in the park to rebuild in Houdini. Of course it turned out there's slightly more to it than just using a scatter-SOP and point relax.

In this tutorial we'll use Vellum Grains to quickly pack a surface with spheres.

Thanks for this tutorial!! I am trying the setup and am bumping into one issue: How can I ensure that the bigger particles/grains will force the smaller ones outwards to the sides? The way it is set up now I end up with the result that the bigger grains are pushed upwards, creating a kind of pile, instead of what I would like which is as described having the biggest grains pushing the other grains more out of the way... Is there an easy way to ensure this?

Hey! Quick question, how could it be done to randomize the moment when they start to grow to avoid everything starts at the same time?

I apologize if you already addressed this in the video and I missed it - but wouldn't an "Attach to Geometry" Vellum constraint also work, instead of using the wrangles?
