I highly recommend the series to the movies, there are 8 seasons! two of which are sequels to the first movie, showing the vikings of berk adjusting to living among dragons. The first season is called riders of berk which establishes this change to life on berk and the second season is defenders of berk, showing us some early villains. The rest of the show is called Race to the Edge. It prequels the second movie directly as hiccup is already 18 (3 years ater the end of the second season) and now we can witness the building and exploring of his map (seen in the second movie). Both of these timelines/shows are reallly worth watching because in Race to the Edge we see the group go beyond the arcapelago and discover 20+ new dragons, make new allies, fight new villains and grow as individuals. I would love to see you get to know the rest of their team and their dragons as they are all so amazing and loveable. My favorites are the twins and a character that shall not be named until you begin the series
