Not just Jace and Joffrey, but also Aegon and Viserys, if jace could not convince their supporters, that he's legitimate. Rhaenyra would be marked as traitor and no children of her would ever have a claim to succeed. And now Jace got very little arguments on his side, cause yeah looks like everyone could ride a dragon and hey he got dark hair, oh and Harwyn was often with Rhaenyra. Would be easy for the green side to ratify that hes not legitimate. Jace often said if you die all is lost in this season. And now really all would be lost. If Jace would be legitimate he could easy keep their supporters on his side.
