In 1983, I was a Grade 2 student in Melfort, Saskatchewan, despised by my evil teacher. One day, as I wrote in my spelling book, I started breathing loudly in through my nose and out my mouth like Manimal. I don’t remember if I did it absent-mindedly or if it was because I might change into a panther and escape my Grade 2 classroom with a mighty leap. My teacher heard the Manimal-noises and asked if I was okay. Sensing an opportunity, I breathed louder, then fell out of my desk and writhed as teacher. And students crowded around me. I was sent home for the morning and eventually got in trouble for faking illness. The principal told my parents he knew EXACTLY the kind of student I was. And he was correct. That is the story of how Manimal helped me escape school for 3 hours. Thank you.

2024-05-02 15:17:19 +0000 UTCFor a brief time in the 80s it was a trend to have carpet in the kitchen. I had a carpeted kitchen growing up and spills were a real problem. Another example of the 80s not having its shit together.

2024-05-02 14:44:34 +0000 UTC5 years before "Manimal" there was a show called "Lucan", and you may not believe this, it was about a boy raised by wolves who traveled town to town looking for his lost family accompanied by his pet wolf.

2024-05-02 02:15:19 +0000 UTCSimilar to the Manimal actor, if you want a wild, "I've only heard this in movies" real-life accent, look up Britt Pearce on YouTube. She's a friendly, chatty wristwatch enthusiast who talks like if Katherine Hepburn tried to imitate Alec Guinness.

2024-05-01 23:44:15 +0000 UTCI just want to state for the record that I'm putting a curse on Brockway and Seanbaby that never lets them stop writing or podcasting. I apologize in advance, but retirement is out of the question.

2024-05-01 16:15:01 +0000 UTCFuck, yes, Manimal! This show, and MacGuyver, were such a formational part of my youth. I haven't even had a chance to listen to this and I am already grinning like an idiot.
