Ok, I'm gonna try to do some repairs, here's the gossip joke explained (spoilers, I guess): There's two ways "repeating" can be interpreted 1. Saying the same thing somebody else said 2. Saying the same thing twice. The man said "I can only say this once, I promised not to repeat it", so he made a promise to someone with the apparent meaning 1 ("I will not tell this secret you're telling me") but is willfully misinterpreting it as meaning two ("I will only tell your secret once") so he can gossip while technically keeping his promise. That's the joke, it's not a good joke, but it's an actual joke with a clear part that's supposed to be funny.
