Don't see the complusion storyline as a bad thing because it isn't. Elena chose Damon because they were a compatible as nobody could be. Elena might have taken away some memory about Damon but she didn't change what she wants from a relationship,and Damon fits preciselly what she wants, she didn't take away her feelings because she might not remember them but they are there. As soon as she knew that he was in danger she freaked out and wanted to be uncompelled. The happiness she is living, is a pretend life, is fake. and she knows dip down that isn't real. Now we need to see if she is prepared to face reality. And Damon being sure that she loves him is so beautiful, he s not anymre the selfdoubting guy we know he passed that, he is another man now. And he knows that what they had was real and powerful, he is os sure that not even compulsion can erase how they felt for each other. The Damon she remebers is not the Damon she will have in front of her, she just has to realise who he really is. She doen't stand a chance because if she is compelled and might be hesitant, he is not, heremembers every details he knows her too well. Things can't go bacck the way they were becuase amon died an Elena was distroyed over his death an hse knows that, she knows that this is the reasons she compell some memories out of her mind and going back to that can be scary. So we will see how things will play out. They never had things easy but this time find the way back to each other might be the thing that solidify their relationship for good or break them forever. Let's see.
