MMM v1.0.0 arriving in stores! (Updated 2019-01-01)

Yesterday in the evening it finally happened. MMM is available in the first two stores. This is a huge milestone for me and the project. 

The App is priced at about 20 US-Dollars, the price may vary due to how the store is handling (international) pricing. If you are or have been a patron and contributed a lifetime support of at least $20 I will send you promo codes / redeem codes for all the stores. If you did not receive messages with store keys, please get in touch!


So, let's take a quick look at what the status of each store is:  

Google Play 

Released. The store will present you with the applicable version for your device, I support Daydream, Cardboard and 2D and you need to run Android v4.4 or later.

iOS AppStore 

Released. There is support for Cardboard and 2D. Adding sessions can be done via iTunes File Sharing.

Oculus Mobile

MMM is currently not deemed ready for the Oculus Store. The app itself is approved. I'll keep submitting updated versions in the future, so I expect to arrive in this store eventually. As for now, <ou can only get access to it through redeeming a key. See WearVR entry.

Steam 

Released. This includes several launch-modes so that you can run it in 2D mode, OpenVR and Oculus VR. If your VR device works in Steam it should work 100%. There are binaries for all 3 Steam-supported platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux/SteamOS

Windows Store

Not planned. Supporting this would mean very much work for me. And since Windows MixedReality headsets work with SteamVR I think the time is better invested in developing more features and creating content.

Oculus Desktop

As Oculus is not yet willing to sell MMM in the mobile store I'm currently not planning to sell on the desktop version either. Future releases with more features will probably make it to this store some day.

Vive Store

While I'm registered as developer there I haven't yet checked the workflow here. I'll look into it while working on the Oculus Desktop version.

WearVR

I will be using this to sell keys for Oculus Mobile. The keys can be redeemed in the Oculus store. The app is currently in "Awaiting administrator review". 

PSVR

So far I haven't considered the PSVR as I feel like Sony is probably not interested in non-game apps on their store. But I bought a PSVR this week amd I am a licensed developer. So maybe I'll check with Sony in 2019.

For everyone wondering what the state of this is. We talked on Discord and there has been an update fixing that particular problem published to the PlayStore.

Is it still possible to get the old 2D mode on the Android version? Mine defaults to the split view (I'm guessing it's technically cardboard?) and I can't find a way to get the old "flat" version. Edit: I found settings, but the only options that I can find still appear to be for headsets only.

Awesome! Looking forward to getting new headgear for my phone to try out the store release.
