Hosting of user created sessions
Added 2018-07-12 10:50:25 +0000 UTCHello my patrons. As you support me with your money, please give me your personal opinion on this:
I get asked where people can find sessions created by other users. So far I can only tell them to check out the Discord channel (which has only two files linked, one made by me) or WarpMyMind (which only has my demo file, i think?). So, I was considering to do it the most easy way I can find: Upgrade my wordpress account, install a file upload plugin and create a simple session library there. The business account is 25$ per month. What do you think?
Also, if you have better idea to quickly set up such a library, please tell me. I'd like to focus my time on the development of MMM and not on building web stuff.

For actual hosting of sessions, you need some catalog (be it some database product or a straight JSON file or w/e) and some data storage. Doing that with a product like Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure or w/e is completely viable, and likely to be extremely low cost. It's also entirely possible to go peer to peer there, which would have no server cost at all.

There are much, much less expensive routes to travel. Hell, you could get your own full-blown virtual server for less than $3/mo. or a hosting account with any number of web hosts with auto-install scripts for file-hosting packages for a similar price. That said, I think adult-oriented files probably should remain at WarpMyMind. It saves you a great deal of potential liability. It's just sad there is not a similar site for other files.
