I think Envy was just hinting that Father was about to start the process that would kill everyone like he did before with Hoenheim's people. Mei Chang is definitely still being played, but I'm at least happy that the problem is that she wants to save Amestris, rather than still being obsessed with bringing back the secret of immortality. If it was any other character, I'd be annoyed they didn't see through Envy's manipulation, but she's like 10, so she gets a pass. Also, they'd all know nothing and be doomed without her, so bringing back Envy at literally the worst possible time is offset a bit by that fact.
