There's no *formula*, to my knowledge. However, the elemental spells on the blog (released in connection with the Shugenja) were almost all conceived of as replacements for EE spells (most of which are now XGtE spells). So wherever you see us using one of those, it's a fair assumption that there's a non-SRD spell that could be used instead. My approach to design is always to pick the spells I want and then replace the non-SRD ones later, so it would be true to say that I have an impression of which non-SRD spells I would use. However, I'm not in the habit of keeping the drafts with non-SRD spells in them, so it would not be true to say I have a 'list'. If that makes sense. This applies mostly to oath/domain/pact/craft/monster spells, by the way. The Finger is in charge of base class spell lists - he'll generally sketch them out and then ask us to fill in gaps he identifies with new homebrew.

2017-11-22 19:56:24 +0000 UTCI know the AMA was over (Loved it by the way) I completely forgot to ask one question though and I don't know where to ask it other than here so here it goes. I know you guys use only your own content and SRD for OGL reasons and also where people can play with just the SRD and your self contained material. But I was wondering if you guys had lists of non SRD spells that you see for certain classes like. The Witch, one that quickly comes to mind is Crown of Madness. But I was wondering if you had either a list or maybe a "these sort of spells would most likely be on there" formula where I could have a base to start combing through XGTE and such for spells that make sense.
