Rolling Out!

Hello!

So, lately I have not been doing as much intense training as I was pre-corona. It’s been really important to me to listen to and honour my body and my feelings, and part of that has been to really slow down focus on my breathing, and do my best to release the tension that stored in the various parts of my body.

For me, a lot of my tension is stored in my upper body and that’s a pretty common thing. So this video focusses on releasing the muscles and working out the facia in our upper body. One of the benefits that I’ve noticed from focussing on my upper body more is that my lower body has suddenly become far more flexible. Who would have thought! It’s almost as if the whole body is connected!

This video is 40 minutes long but usually I get the rolling out done in about 20 minutes or so. It’s nice to do before you exercise, or after, or just as a grounding thing to do at any point available to you in your day.

You will need some tools, and I recommend having these in your toolbox.

1) foam roller

2) yoga block + rad roller (you can make one with two lacrosse balls)

3) yoga wheel


Remember to focus on your breathing through these exercises. Some moments can be intense - releasing tension is both physical and emotional, and we store traumas and stress in our soft tissues, so be mindful of what you’re feeling and make a note of whenever you’re feeling panicky or resistant. It’s good to examine the root of those feelings if you feel like you’ve got the spoons to do so ❤️
