reminder that there are now only 2 teirs- please make sure you're signed up for one of those ty
also, a brief apology for not offering any early access for this video. It's like 2 weeks behind schedule. I had to deal with a corrupted operating system, buggy adobe updates, and render times literal hours longer than expected. That said, I'm gonna try to do better next time. Sorry bout that
So yea with this video I thought I'd try playing around more with lighting and color grading. Nothing crazy, just trying to get more comfortable with the tools yknow
If you'll remember, at the end of the last video, a robot blew a large hole into the wall, and so I wanted to try to capture the vibe of sunlight pouring in through the hole and the room inside feeling kinda dark. Here's how the lights were set up:

No lights

Big light 1

Big light 2

Front lights
It was a real hassle to get the sunlight only to come in from where I wanted; the set is so (relatively) small that the lights I have would wrap around the edges of the walls, and so I had to set up a couple walls and shit to stop that. It was a very jank solution lol

This was also my first time shooting in LOG, which for those unaware is basically a way of filming that captures more image data by giving a super washed out image. Basically it allows for me to play around with color and shit in post more easily.
Here's what the raw footage looked like;

And here's the graded footage

It's definitely a bit dramatic, but I like the vibe. definitely feels like sunlight pouring into a dark room.
Another challenge is that the other camera I was shooting with did not have LOG footage, and I severely underestimated how hard it would be to match the two video colors. That said, I think it turned out ok. Here's the raw video;

And here's what I've landed on

Not perfect, but a HUGE improvement, and I think the difference between the two camera make them individually look a bit better so fuck it
Anyway yeah thats all, lemme know if you think it looks cool/based
vid coming out in like an hour maybe

2021-06-13 02:40:41 +0000 UTCFor the Za Warudo effect at the start, did you use a resource or recreate from scratch? Can you speak more on the method used for it? :)
