True Religion might be my favorite song on this record, and fun fact, it's not the first time Hayley has sung about stuff like that. For some background (bc I'm a nerd and have loved Paramore forever), the band lost 2 members back in 2011 before their 3rd album, mainly because of creative differences. Hayley and the rest of the band members had always been openly religious, but she had been questioning her faith and looking at religion from a more skeptical lens at the time. She wanted to use music as an outlet for those thoughts, but 2 of the members thought it was blasphemous and left the band (there were other reasons, of course, but I remember that being one of them). Hayley's just always been a very intelligent & articulate person in my opinion, and I love that she isn't afraid to be candid about topics like religion and racism in her music.
