ExtraL - JENNIE & Doechii (Official Video) FIRST TIME REACTION

I don't know if you check these but I'll put some information here. So, Blackpink is made up of 4 members but only two of the members rap: Jennie and Lisa. Jennie is Blackpink's Main Rapper and Lisa is the Lead Rapper (in K-pop positions the term "main" carries more importance than the term "lead" but the BP members are so well established in their careers at this point that in general, the distinction isn't important anymore) If you listen closely, in the beginning, you can hear a faint "iiiiinnncccooommmiinngg" in the intro and that's a producer tag for a producer called "Dem Jointz" He's a black American producer who started working in the hip-hop field years ago and as K-pop got big he quickly embedded himself in that market and has made WAVES in the Korean music industry. He has produced some of K-pop's biggest hits and works with some of K-pop's biggest groups. He's also worked with Western artists such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kanye West, Anderson Paak, Janet Jackson, and Rihanna. He's known in the K-pop scene, especially for being very experimental and often doing big switch-ups and genre mixes in his songs. The visuals from these global artists who came from the K-pop scene will always be well crafted because Korean Pop as a genre puts a heavy emphasis on visuals. The artists coming from the Korean Pop genre are trained with the idea that a visual is just as important as the song. Whereas in the West, there are artists that can get away with just being singers, or just being dancers, or just focusing on visuals etc etc in the Korean Pop market, you're generally expected to be able to conceptualize and create from all areas. There is rarely a mainstream K-pop song that isn't released without a visual AND choreography, even slow songs! And yes at first it is largely the companies the artists are signed to, that help pull everything together, but the environment itself fosters a full collaboration between the visuals and music and the creation of concepts and characters in a way that I just don't see happening in the West as much. Lisa's album officially drops on February 28th. Jennie's album officially drops on March 7th. It'd be great to see you react to them!!
