~January 2021 Monthly Theme~

We made it to 2021 everyone! Give yourself a round of applause because last year was incredibly difficult, and while we're not out of the woods by a long shot, we're seeing the possibilities of things going back to normal, so all we gotta do is continue to forge on, wear masks, wash your hands and stay away from people. I know it's been hard, I definitely know, but the longer this draws out, the longer we'll be stuck inside.

Slight preachiness aside, it's time to pick out monthly theme! Go ahead and vote down below! Voting will end on Jan. 5th 11:59pm PST!

Snowdrop: One of the birth flowers of January is the snowdrop, and while a lot of it is symbolized with purity and innocence (not that those are bad things) I don't think that's really what we're wanting this month/coming year (but hey, I may be wrong lol). However, the aspect of this flower for January that really struck me was that it symbolizes Hope. It's the first flower to bloom at the end of winter, and the first to bloom for spring, so it symbolizes that this bad weather will pass, if we continue to comfort, uplift, and stay connected with our loved ones.

New Year's Resolution: Even though this past year was not happy really for the most part, I think we can take that and at least turn it around in a space like this. What I mean by this theme is that maybe this year may not be the year of being able to fulfill resolutions of travel, or of meeting with friends, or any of the things that we wish we could do right now, but here, I think we can escape into fantasy a bit. What if we could do all the things we wanted to do?

Garnet: Garnet is January's birthstone that's said to bring love, luck, health, loyalty and friendship. During the Roman Empire they even believed that garnets protected travelers, if it sparkled, it was a warning of approaching danger. Nowadays we don't really need protection from travelling since many of us can't really do anywhere, but bring love, luck, health and hell, even friendship into the new year I think is something we desperately need.
