~Paper Bound: The Phantom of the Opera: Part 10~
Added 2020-08-09 19:00:03 +0000 UTCI just want to preface the listening of this audio to let you know that there are some instances in the manuscript that use a word for people that is now considered a slur. This is a translation of a French story that was written originally in 1911, during a period of time where people who lived in Asia or around that area where known as 'Orientals'. The character of, "The Persian" (the fact that he doesn't actually have a name is another problem in and of itself ) refers to himself as such, and while I do not condone the usage of this term in the least, I feel it would be inaccurate to not include it, not for the sake of accuracy, but for the fact that I do no want to erase it from history. This term was a common occurrence, and listeners/readers should be aware of it, and know that it's not ok, even though it was a direct product of it's time.
