That said, like with any person, Albert's motivation for doing and not doing something is mostly pretty tangled up.

Considering his name kinda sounds like Lich he might even find a way to be immortal (though I doubt it considering how it went for Bamherzig). Also the demon talk at the end was great. Schlacht only cares about demonkind surviving, not how it happens. Whether by conquering the other races or attaining peace he is happy. Only issue is the greatest opp, Frieren the Hater, might not listen long enough to hear that demons are better now

Also, I like to think the Demon King actually has an accurate awareness of the implications of Albert's obsession, in a way that Albert doesn't due to his self-denial. It is in fact Albert's desire to genuinely feel as humans feel - as he once felt - and no grand design, that could possibly bring about peaceful co-existence with Demon Kind. Considering Albert agreeably coexisted with Humans far better than any other demon, it's only natural that the capacity to do so would increase if he is successful. Albert is just caught up in himself and not allowing grandiosity because such a thing is tempting to demons - which is why his experiments on humans will be non-lethal, whereas every other demon 'experiments' by killing humans.
