[News] Video Color Fidelity Boost
Added 2025-02-08 04:35:21 +0000 UTCThe NEXT beta update will bring an improved video processing pipeline for waifu2x, focusing on enhanced video color accuracy.
This update aims to further improve the color accuracy of the default JPEG frame codec. Previously, it was okay for general viewing, but it could cause some issues in rare cases. So, I decided to further improve its color accuracy and make it on par with the larger PNG codec while still remaining fast and space efficient.
Here are some examples for comparison, using Omni-MiniV2 and AnimeVideoV3 for 2x upscaling. As you can see, after the update, there is barely any color difference between the source video and the upscaled one.
