If you are too young or didn't know about it, in the old console wars not only Nintendo and Sega were battling, NEC and Hudson Soft had a pretty cool system called TurboGrafx-16 (PC Engine in Japan). They had their own mascot too, the caveman kid called Bonk but when Bonk didn't had the 'Tude needed to compete with Sonic (lol) they made a game with a more edgy and futuristic version of Bonk called Zonk and here he is!

I just pointed that they created Zonk to compete with Sonic because that 90s tude stuff haha it wasn't as popular as Sonic obviously but was created with that purpose. Bonk was more to compete with Mario
