Dev Log 57

Hey guys, it's time for a short dev log!

I'm happy to report that the last couple of weeks have been productive as usual! Of course, the lion's share of my time has been taken up with rendering the update, and I'm really starting to love some of the new quality of life features available with the newer software I spoke about upgrading to last month. It really is making the inconvenience of upgrading worth it in the end.

In addition to that, I've also been learning a new animation technique called timeline animation. So far, most of the animation in the game has been based around pre-made animation assets that I alter slightly to fit my scenes. With the new skills I'm learning, however, I'll be able to create completely custom animations when scenes call for it in the future.

This is a little more time consuming (though not as much as you might think, because adapting pre-made animations was already quite time consuming), and there's still a hell of a lot I need to learn and practice before I've mastered it, but it should really open up an entire world of possibilites for the future of the game!

So, having said all of that, I can also report that I've completed animating the first 14 videos of the update. These make up the first of three animated scenes this time around - all three of which will probably use this new technique.

And I think that's all I have for this one! As always, thank you all for your support, and I'll talk to you again in a couple of weeks with the next dev log!

Yeah, can't say I'm a fan of it either! I'll speak about it in more detail in the next dev log, but for now, yeah, it'll just be patreon and then if itch still isn't back I'll post the free version on discord.

due to the ban on "NSFW" games on itch, im guessing that Cosy Cafe will only be on Patreon for now? Idk but i dont like this whole ban thing

Adding my 2 cents to the bullshit in today's news. Concerning the removal of NSFW content from content creator platforms such as Itch.IO, Steam, and other platforms containing authors expressing themselves: Capitulating to the credit card companies over sexual content is worse than banning books from a library for it's content. Fictional works are just that, fictional. Banning it's content base on someone else's conservative views is simply puritanical. It's an infringement on the rights of the authors to express themselves as individuals. In the U.S. it is an infringement of the 1st Amendment. It would be ok to make safeguards that make security tight around the sales of such content, so that age verification, and rights waivers can be verified before payment is made, but outright banning the content is wrong. Shame on any platform that capitulates to the payment processors in this regard. Shame on the payment processors for capitulating to a single campaign of 70000 people who don't necessarily speak for the other 7 Billion people on the planet.
