Dev Log 56

As usual at this point in the cycle, I'm gonna be spending all of my time rendering for the next couple of months, so there won't be much to report. I'll keep checking in here as usual, though!
So, the last couple of weeks have been busy as ever. I mentioned in the previous dev log that I was struggling to get all my rendering mods updated and working together, and was contemplating sticking with the old setup if it all turned into a big ordeal. Well, it took a good week of work and testing, including updating every single character model (one for every outfit, not just one for each girl), but I finally got it all functioning.
I'm really glad I spent the time doing it - the improvements may not jump out and smack you in the face, but I feel like everything is a good 10-20% nicer, especially the lighting and shadows, without any increse in time/effort required to make the renders compared to the old ones. So a solid win in my book!
After getting that all sorted, I've also made a good start on the renders for 0.13, having completed around 200 over the last week. I expect this to be another 2000 render update, so those are the first of many!
And that's all there is to say for this one! As usual, thank you for your support; I always appreciate it! I'll speak to you again in a couple of weeks, with what I'm sure will be an even shorter dev log!

Heh, so I'm guessing you're more on the 100 limit than the vicky limit for the harem? Well, those two would be great picks tho! Who else d'ya have in mind as harem worthy?

She made a point of telling him her name, you just don't forget her name just like that. I could understand if it was like 6 months later. I think that the "gorgeous little waitress" in Wong's Chinese Dragon should also be a part of MC's harem.

The game is getting pretty big now, which is great, but that makes it slow to load. If you drop two images into the root of the /game folder, named presplash_background.jpg and presplash_foreground.jpg, they'll get picked up by the very start of the ren'py engine, and show an animated splash screen whilst it's loading the rest up. This requires absolutely zero code changes (so much so that I've just done it for myself using the banner from the top of the itch page (Lucy and Viccy with the ivy and the Cosy Cafe Logo) once in a lightened greyscale for the background, and once just the image as-is for the foreground). And it makes that moment of "did I actually double-click it, or not?" whilst we wait for the game to actually open, a lot less tense.
