Dev Log 53

Hey guys, welcome to the final dev log before the release of version 0.12!

I've had a very productive couple of weeks, completing a further 400 renders, which brings the total so far up to around 2,000. Meaning this update has already smashed the old record of 1900, and there's a good 200ish yet to go!

I mentioned a few dev logs ago that I'd finished the animation for the update... Well, it turns out that I'd completely forgotten about a rather long animated scene later in the update. So I've also completed a further 30 animations, bringing the total for the update up to 44.

So with all that in mind, I'm now happy to report that I'm nearing the end! I'm currently in the process of rendering the last (extremely long) scene, and then it's on to putting all of the pieces together and making it actually playable. The tentative release date of the 24th that I mentioned previously is now set in stone - barring unforeseen disaster it should be quite a comfortable target to hit.

I must say, now that the release date is growing close, I'm getting pretty excited about this one! The second day in the update (it's a 2 day update this time) is a little shorter, but I struggled picking a preview render for this dev log just because it's so filled with spoilers, and some of them look really good!

In other update related news: In addition to the usual full game downloads that all of the previous updates have been released as, I'm working on putting together a patch version for PC and linux this time, which will mean that (if you want to) you should only need to download the new content and then drop it into your existing files. I haven't done this before so it'll be experimental, but I think it should work fine - I'll be using any of you that choose this option as guinea pigs this time!

And that about does it for this dev log. The next time I speak to you all should be on the 24th with the update release post, so until then, thank you all for your support as always!

BTW, Cosy: You do such a PHENOMINAL job with facial expressions. I can't tell you the number of times that I have played a game that "talks" about a character blushing...but few apply the effort to add it to the character model. But you do coy, shy, frightened, stressed, *lewd*, and all the others so (pardon the language) FUCKING wonderfully. You can ignore the rest as it's part rant and part explaining why I am so appreciative of the small details and extra effort you provide. So, I played trombone in an orchestra and a jazz band back in the day. I've played harmonica accompaniment a number of times for smaller bands as well. Do you know what both instruments have in common? They are generally best in a harmony or disharmony position just adding background color and depth to the tones. I cannot tell you the number of times where my play sheets read like a HOA committee re-wrote the notes in turns. BUT, those note, scale, and intensity changes always supported another section taking lead or forefront for the piece and adding that extra cushion or seasoning always made such a difference that it didn't matter that most folks never really heard us. Someone else commented on your efforts improving lighting, shadow, and color depth being noticeable in absence but often unnoticed when present. But, you are such an excellent professional. Okay, no more gushing about how awesome you are for today. Cheers!

People like different things. Personally I dislike obese teachers. If I was dev she would be last on any list. Still 10/10.
