With this episode, we begin Sofia's next arc! I'm really looking forward to her upcoming story. She's so different from Nikki, which is what makes them both so fun to write. And I actually believe they both have something to learn from each other, even if they clash on occasion. Just like real sisters. 😉

This replaces the azimuth of the story, it is also a key stage, which opens many doors to more explicit scenarios. The action should follow the remarks especially on the side of Nikki. I have now become addicted to Emory's way of describing expressions of the heart. Bravissimo.

You can tell that Sofia is older both in biological age and social life as she has had a more difficult childhood without parents, gangs, etc... and has been dealing with her new "gender" for a longer period of time. I like Sofia's maturity and I think that once they iron out the kinks and the events to come (which I imagine won't be very comfortable for them), I think Sofia's maturity, along with Nikki's rebelliousness and strength, can make them a strong duo. Yes, Nikki needs a lesson or two to make him a little more humble, but as Emory says, he's been through his share of growing up too. And I think some time living with her jerk of a father is going to do her a lot of good..... although I hope he doesn't lose his strength or his rebelliousness!...and I need Mom to come back soon! PS: Remember Em, leave some skinny-Athletic and lesbian in the story hehehehe. 😘

She's absolutely one of my favs, which I guess is no surprise. > Nik, it's VERY sweet that you're willing to cut your dad so much slack and I'm certain that has nothing to do with the fact that of the people in your life he's the one least likely to make you deal with FEELINGS and DRAMA Poor Nikki has been convinced that "drama and feelings" are dangerous. All they do is interfere with your goals, according to his dad. You have to keep your eye on the prize at all times or you won't achieve your aims. I'm sure this has to do with dad's upbringing (he was poor), but I'm not feeling very generous to him right no lol. > At this rate it's going to take prolonged exposure to her father being a piece of shit and an emotional black hole for her to realise, so staying with her dad might be good for her in the long run, even if in the short term it just makes her more miserable. Sofia should have backed off, but she saw Nikki reaching out with her tender story about her mom and decided to go for broke. She doesn't realize how injured / emotionally immature Nikki is, and how much more growth she needs. Nikki staying with her dad will definitely open her eyes to some unpleasant truths about her father. I feel bad for her, but you're right it's necessary. She needs to see and experience his behavior firsthand (with her mom and Sofia's words now echoing in her head) to really understand the truth. > Also! Sofia reaching out! Tender physical contact! Lashing out, like she wanted to lash out at those guys in the store, like she lashed out at Jill. Always the wounded animal, striking at any weakness she thinks she sees. This is such an apt and sad description of Nikki. And the question is, wounded in what way? We know she was traumatized by Davis on the island for over a year, but there's also her upbringing and how she had to change her personality to better fit in with how the world expected her to be, as she grew up. Poor Nikki really hasn't caught a break! And she's only 20! > I'm so glad Sofia drops the truth bomb at the end. Nikki needed to hear it but I think Sofia needed to say it, too. There's something about hearing your own dark thoughts echoed back at you, by someone else. It can shock you into an awareness of how much you actually disagree with what you used to believe. Sofia is slowly coming to a realization that, yes, maybe she actually could live like this -- but as herself, not playing somebody else. Sofia's (long) journey will be about reclaiming her authentic self. Even if her authentic self ALSO needs to have boobs, by way of circumstance. > JOSH! He's so depressed! Poor guy. Sofia is 24 and has been wearing dresses / on hormones for about 2.5 years. Meanwhile, poor Nikki is only 20 -- and she was taken to Xu's island when she was only 19. She hasn't had much of a chance to grow up or emotionally adjust to any of this! Not to make excuses for her bad attitude, but it's true. 😉 "Brainwashed" is a good word for what has happened to Nikki. As I was writing the dialogue, it was my intent that MOST of what Nikki says about her dad / mom isn't even her words. She's just parroting things her dad has said, probably in private when they're out and mom isn't around. But Nikki can't stay blind forever. At least, not if she wants to get through this!

Jill's story is epic, and Nikki makes a lot of noise, but here's Sofia just becoming gradually hotter while dealing with a murder mystery. And you're also absolutely right about Nikki. She needs to wake up and realize her father is a much more complicated and flawed man than she realizes. I imagine living with him might do the trick... Although I don't think Nikki resents her mom, really. Nikki just doesn't know how to process the very complicated FEELINGS (😉) she's having about how her mom is reacting.

It will take her time to open her eyes and realize Sophia is right. Her attitude will be her worst enemy. Something dramatic will need to happen to her to soften her up and I'm sure it will happen eventually.

If you are the best quarterback in school... you focus on being the best of the best in sports... and you have an army of nerds doing your homework for you, right? Why am I bringing this up? Because imho there is a direct correlation between focusing on one particular thing for so long and being so immature that you don't understand what Sofia was saying at all. I hope there comes a time when Nikki opens her eyes and realizes that her dad has brainwashed her.

God, though, it's so sad seeing her struggle with her mum, trying and failing to help her, desperately in need of the emotional tools her upbringing first stripped from her and then denied her. I'd say she needs a hug but that might be too many FEELINGS! Sofia with the dark humour! And then trying — and failing — to hammer a bit of sense into Nikki's humongous melon. All the things that COULD have happened to her because her dad took the easy way out. The worst thing I can say about Sofia here is maybe she should have backed off when it was clear Nikki didn't want to hear it, but honestly who else is going to tell her? Her mum sang the same tune about her dad for weeks and it didn't get through...
