Pain in a bone or in a joint is not like pain on the surface of your skin, you have to take it much more seriously. If you’re getting such pains then take a break until the pain is totally gone and adjust your striking and posture to avoid the injury, rinse and repeat if necessary.

It is tempting to hit the board only with the right side of your hand, you mustn’t do that or you may hurt your wrist.
