"Hit The Stage" Ep 7 Full Reaction

Comments

Kind of random, but Nicole's partner, Dubu, is the dance mentor/teacher for Enhypen, as well as for I-land (as a dance mentor/judge) I really love your reactions! I honestly got (idk if thats the correct term) patreon just so I could see your reaction to the MAMA performances, but I got distracted by your other videos, because I didn't know you reacted to Hit The Stage! Yay!

Rie HAta is the choreographer of Ateez debut song

Yes!! I don’t really follow Lovelyz but Mijoo has always stood out to me since first watching HTS. I was wondering if Jeff has seen Queendom yet

DejaVu

since you like Mijoo you should watch Queendom if you haven't seen it yet :) she's really funny there!

Partially off topic... if you subscribe to viki plus, you might want to check out Hot Blood Dance Crew. It is a dance competition btwn popular dance crews in China. They show different styles. Also participating is Jackson Wang from Got 7, Luhan formally of Exo, Victoria from f/x and William Chan. They also have guest choreographers/dancers like Galen Hooks.

For this episode they didn't choose who would go first from a competition I think because Bora had asked to go first because of her injury, she said she was worried it would get worse if she had to sit and wait to perform. Then, after that, for the rest of the episode it worked the same way as the last round with each person picking the one after them.

Agree with all your assessment of the dances! Don't agree with you on how they are picking the next competitor... I think they are clearly picking people they think they can beat. Also the Korean seniority thing might be playing a part. Bora volunteered to go first because of her injury. She picked Mijoo, the makne who had never showcased her solo dancing and had only been seen doing Lovelyz simple/cute choreos. Mijoo picked Shownu, the next youngest and someone who had gotten not so great results in previous episodes. This was a real step up for him and I think surprised a lot of people with his improvement. Shownu picked Nicole, someone who hadn't been active in some time and before that, Kara was known for simple catchy dancing, not anything super impressive. It's a very smart strategy by the shows producers. Effectively they are getting to keep the best for last, making for good TV, without having to interfere in the ordering themeselves.

Actually BB Trippin are ATEEZ's choreographers! KQ rarely modifies the choreography so the BB Trippin covers you were talking about are actually the original choreography/demo versions for ATEEZ. . Leader Hong Jaemin makes the choreography and the other crew members have also been ATEEZ's dance coaches and various backup dancers (You can view their youtube or ATEEZ wikipedia page to see which exacty choreographies they worked on)

Mijoo's situation was definitely sad - to be shoehorned into an image that isn't really you must be so hard. Thankfully over the years she's been given some more freedom to be herself, at least in her solo appearances in variety and acting (she, along with Golcha's Jangjun and Infinite's Sunggyu - or technically almost all of Infinite lol - are the idols that Woollim Entertainment their company has sort of given up on trying to control their more crazy/energetic sides). She hasn't got a solo yet though. Lovelyz were on Queendom last year and unfortunately got a lot of hate when trying to change their 'cute, pure' image into something more sexy and haven't had many activities since, aside from another member getting a solo, but they're going to have a full group comeback in September finally!

Hmmm just wondering isn't modern just modern jazz? Or are they two different styles

Ida Bubble

Lol I just remembered how bora and feeldog dated after this show... such a power couple, too bad they split :(

brianna a

Yeah that was quiteee unfortunate :( you’re so right about self expression. That kind of talent and charisma should not be hidden. What is she up to nowadays?

seth james

Oh wow! So jealous right now. I’ve always wanted to learn how to ride :( But yes! Totally agree with that feeling! In my auditions, I’m always like, lord just get me through this having done it as best as I can and we’re good! 😂

seth james

Haha part 2! Intriguing!

mijoo's case is so sad and unfortunately not a rare one. they didn't just tell her to tone down her dancing, they told her to tone down her personality ("told me to act pridefully and i shouldn't speak a lot" - probably to create an image of "cold beauty"). performance should be a way of expressing yourself, and it's way more enjoyable to see individuals instead of just a nice picture. like even when groups dance the same choreography it's great to see personal styles because each person has different things to say and different ways of expressing them on stage. p.s. - posted just in time for my sunday chill out time, thank you :')

It sucked so much for Bora to be injured. Honestly, not placing first is not that bad, but if she herself isn't satisfied with what she did on stage... This is such a horrible feeling. I'm not a (competition level) dancer, but I compete in equestrian tournaments nearly every weekend during summer. For me, there is no better feeling than completing my course and be conent and happy how my horse and I performed. Anyways, great analysis like always Jeff!

As always, my favorite Performances are in Part 2 of the Theme 😉 I agreed with pretty much everything you said this episode!
