Steban's days are counted now, good luck boy.
I find it so interesting to dive into some aspects of his personality. Steban is both brave and cowardly. Both assertive and avoidant. He has high values and pushes to reach every single one of his ideals. But sometimes he falls terribly short of them - and he's painfully aware of that. However, being aware is not enough to push him past his obstacles, and he'd rather run away than face his own shadows.
Avoiding, evading. That's the game he's been playing for years. What's funny, however, is that he's so scared of the consequences of taking too much time to act. Of being too late.
It was never his own decision to come back to Oddwind, after all. And the Devil knows it.
After all, she knows his fate. She knows what awaits him at the crossroads.

2024-08-24 13:09:47 +0000 UTCWow. This page is absolutely phenomenal!! Where do I even start? Well, first off, the page itself looks beautiful. Kyrat mentioned the lighting technique you used to create a sense of fear on the Discord, and it’s a really cool concept! It reminds me of the Spiderverse movies! I think the contrasting blue and red may also be conveying Steban’s conflicting feelings. (More on that down below, hehe). I also love the facial expressions you drew on Steban. It’s perfect, and I like how you showed intense shock and fear rather than sadness, which is kind of cliche. The Devil also looks very menacing, but also an illusion at the same time, reminding us that this is merely a hallucination. You are so talented!! This also adds so many layers to Steban’s character. Throughout the whole book, we have began to see more and more of his troubled side. At the beginning, he emerges as this classic adventurous, Flynn Rider-like character. But soon we find out that he was been avoiding Oddwind like the plague, probably terrified of returning to find it empty. He would be devastated if that happened, wracked in guilt, (thinking it’s his fault), and filled with fear knowing he could be next. Almost like he’d rather never return then to come back…only to find the worse. However, even after he returns, his troubles haven’t gone away. He still believes the worst will happen if he doesn’t act fast enough, yet he’s terrified of meeting the Devil again. He’s horrified of the thought of the wolf chasing him with her smoke again, at the crossroads, and him turning around only to see Oddwind disappear in the fog, just like the town from Shut Eye. I think he has a heavy sense of burden and responsibility to save the town, probably to right whatever wrong he committed with the Enders drama. But at the same time, he fears that he is the one thing that’ll send the town to doom. I see Steban is a very complex character, and I can’t wait to see more of his troubled side. I’m sure his character arc will be fantastic! Unfortunately, I have to take a break from Patreon for a couple months. But this book has been a wonderful journey, and I can’t wait to dive into the next adventure soon! God bless you, and best of luck on writing Book 2!!

These pages have so much to hype you up for the next book. I've been re-reading this and shut eye as well some old art pieces and so many small scenes has different feels and stuff has inspired for fanart and speculation.

I barely have the words to describe how amazing the lighting and atmosphere are, and it just looks so stunning! This page genuinely feels ominous and threatening, and the Devil is such a terrifying villain! You can almost feel Steban's fear, and that says a lot, because she seems to be the only thing he is genuinely afraid of! I also love the continuity of the plot from Shut Eye. This is amazing stuff, and this might be one of my favorite scenes in the comic so far!

Time keeps ticking and doesn’t slow down for anyone, fate will always somehow turn up one way or another and there is certainly no way of escaping it. I wonder how Steban will cope with it once it finally catches up to him
