“That’s a strange-looking game of poker,” Tifa said and frowned over the table at Yuffie. “Aren’t we supposed to have more cards?”
“It’s not poker. It’s something much better!” The excitable ninja grinned, shuffling the deck with a flashy flourish before setting it in the middle of the table. “Complements of my stash Wutai. You won’t forget this experience, I promise you that.”
Aerith, meanwhile, was more interested in the card that she had snatched. “Is that… materia?” she asked, squinting at the little glittery fragments embedded in the card stock.
“You bet! It’ll get you growing right away if you keep poking at it, so hand it over! No cheating at my table, no sir.”
“Growing? What, you mean, like getting taller?”
Aerith flicked her card into the stack. “And bustier, and stronger, and whole lost of other sexy things, I’m sure. C’mon, Teef, don’t pretend you haven’t played around with Yuffie’s secret magic before.”
“Hey!” Yuffie called, as Tifa retreated into blushing silence, “You keep your hands to yourself! Now draw a card and let’s get growing. First to, say, the size of the golden saucer wins?”
“If you’re content to stay in my shadow,” Aerith replied, matching Yuffie’s grin par for par. “Deal them, shorty.”
