Thanks very much and most sincerely Sir. I never knew the man , just heard a very few things from my Grandma.(All of them good , he was just different after) The booze killed him. My mom , my 2 aunts and my uncle had a great dad. I was the only one Granny talked to about him after. They were of a tougher than a 2 dollar steak generation. : ]

There is a documentary call Letters Home From Vietnam I saw man, many years ago. It had "Stars" reading actual letters from GI's that were in Vietnam. Powerful as hell. You might want too look for it. I think you might dig on it. : ]

Hell yeah. Your comment makes me wish i'd focused a bit more. I vaguely remember watching Ep 1 or 2 awhile ago so maybe I wasn't as excited? But either way gonna lock in next episodes.
Random but i'm sure this affects people different but I'm so used to David Schwimmer in friends that it was actually hard to take him serious. First time he yelled I legit laughed because my brain didn't have enough time haha. So it broke immersion a bit..
But I really enjoyed the wild ride of his character and the others with only one episode! I love digging through and understanding people. The motivations.. the insecurities.. The ego.. the dynamics of the power struggles? and roles they all play in this etc. excited for the next! ;)

One of my all time favourite series/documentary, I say documentary because itβs based on the true events of the men/heroes at the beginning of each episode. No matter how many times I watch it, I get the chills every time. The scoring is hauntingly beautiful too which adds to the experience. A true masterpiece

Sobel's family was not happy with the way Captain Sobel was portrayed but this this is how the man was described to Stephen Ambrose when he wrote the book.

The guy you (I believe his name is Soebel?)recognize but aren't sure who the actor is is David Schwimmer. He was in Friends.

Annd we're done. This was, to me , a Powerful as Hell 1st Episode out. Reaction , Sir , Bravo. Comments , I can read the respect and admiration for the show and subject matter. Bravo as well. And most surprisingly to me , how moving I found it. Can't really think of much to say at the moment , other than thanks again for getting me to watch it. Peace

Tom Hanks was the #1 movie star in the world when he starred in the WW2 Film, Saving Private Ryan. Then he took all that money and produced this masterpiece and the follow up, The Pacific. Then he maybe did some other super questionable stuff... but we won't get into that.

Best miniseries of all time. To be clear. The show is based off of first hand accounts by the men being interviewed at the beginning.

I had forgotten this show was in the mix , so super stoked ta watch it first time with you. And judging by the comments so far , I do not expect to be disappointed. BTW , my Grandfather,(mom's side) was a POW. First my Grandmother got a telegram from the War Department saying he was MIA. Then , at some point later , got another one saying he was a POW. And the last one saying he was coming home. As the last of the family , I have all 3 telegrams , and his folded flag from his funeral. Crazy thing was , I'm the one who found the telegrams in an old cedar chest that belonged to my Grandmother that I saved from the junk truck to get refurbished. They had gotten pushed behind one of the bottom drawers. Crazy huh: ] Ok , Checklist Time - Fatty rolled and ready - Check - Beer freezer cold - Check - Smoke and Zippo - Check. And on a serious note , I will toast my Gramps , and I will toast all those that lived , and died during and after that War. Peace

Hope you watch The Pacific after this--so many people watch Band of Brothers but then never watch the follow up miniseries The Pacific
