Christine (1983) Full Uncut Reaction!

If you want to watch another Steven King adapted movie try Maximum Overdrive, it’s based on one of his short stories…of course that’s if you haven’t seen it already😊

Yeah it's a cool movie indeed. It's not quite scary necessarily, but it's a hella fun movie to watch! I give the music recognition too. It actually sounds like a combination of Nightmare on Elm Street (which came out 1 year later) and Halloween II (which came out 2 years earlier). By the way, when "Beast of Burden" by the Rolling Stones was playing, I was hoping you were gonna mention your hoodie.

If you want to see Keith Gordon (Arnie) again, definitely check out Dressed To Kill (1980). I don't think his acting is as mesmerizing, but it's a very interesting murder mystery movie. The first time I saw the car transformation scene, I was very impressed. That and the car communicating through the radio both reminded me of Transformers. I think I read somewhere that they used some kind of machine out of camera view to crush the car, then played the video in reverse to make it look like it was repairing itself. The musical score is similar to the score in 1979's Phantasm. I think the red jacket Arnie was wearing was supposed to make him look like James Dean from Rebel Without a Cause.

Arthur Fields

One of my favorite Stephen King adaptations and one of my favorite John Carpenter movies. While it is a bit different from the book, I look at it as something in the car possessing the owners to the point that they become obsessed with it to the point that it destroys them. Arnie's parents were over-protective and controlling of him. As a result, that made him a target for Christine. Like somebody getting addicted to drugs or alcohol, Arnie liked that first feeling he got from Christine, something he'd never felt in his life. It hooked him and drew him in to over-indulging on it and forgetting all that was around him, even his girlfriend and best friend. As for why the car was red, the Plymouth Furies were only painted in one color, but, as the book says, Christine's paint job was custom ordered. As for whether Arnie was in the car during the attacks, I don't think he was except for at the end. He certainly wasn't in the car during the second round of attacks. He would have burned up in the fire. Plus, Darnell's phone call confirmed that Arnie was elsewhere. He also found the car empty when he opened the door. As for why he got in the burned up car, Christine played with his mind, tempting him inside. That's why he was smiling when he got in. The spell was broke when the radio came on. You can see in his face that the smile turned to a frown as he realized where he was. Also, Darnell had seen Christine before. In the scene of the evening when Arnie arrives at Darnell's with Christine, Darnell says that he knew a guy who had a car like Christine who killed himself in it. That was LeBay's brother who killed himself in the car after his wife and daughter died in it. I also think it adds to the creepy factor that we don't find out why or how Christine is evil, just like how we don't know why Michael Myers killed his sister in 1963. And the opening incident at the assembly plant where Christine slams the hood on the guy's hand is why I always use a hood prop when under the hood of my Jeep.
