With other Mark saying he misses William makes me think that in that universe he was gay? Its intresting seeing a little humanity in other Mark's when talking about their mother.

Since we learned more about how he grew up maybe he actually is dead, the walking dead did something similar giving side characters a sudden backstory before killing them off...not sure if this will do the same just a theory.
