SHE'S HERE. Enter the twins' mother. She's sort of a pivotal character, but I won't ever get to fully explore everything about her in the comic itself, so I'm gonna leave lil tidbits in the blog posts here about her, haha!
Emi Akutagawa (née Sasaki) was born in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, even though her mother was already a permanent resident of the United States when she was pregnant with Emi in the 60s. Her mother could afford to fly home to give birth, and Emi's had dual citizenship ever since.
