HELLO, HERE IS A NEW PAGE FOR YOU.
I have been STRUGGLING on these behind the scenes. Penciling and inking were flowing really well -- I felt like I finally got the hang of drawing Daniel, I was loving how my lines were coming out -- and then I got to coloring.
I scrapped a full day's worth of work because I just was not feeling my own colors. I know I'm known for a style that mixes realism with cel-shading, resulting in a sort of faux anime screenshot look, but I just don't love pursuing that aesthetic in a comic, personally.
I'm much, much more drawn to a flatter style, with better harmonized colors, in the vein of like, Kiku Hughes' Displacement or Jordi Lafebre's work. Anyway, all this to say, I started experimenting and found that I can pursue that look within my own style, and I LOVE the end result.
I'm also scrapping panel and word balloon borders which is something I wanted to do, but wasn't brave enough for. Keeping Time will probably start looking a little different from here on out! (If I truly hate myself, I'll eventually go back and redo the first 12 pages to look more like these, but for now, ONWARDS!!)
Also sorry this is mostly just establishing shots. I swear it's important. Also also, I hope you remember this comic opened with a caption that read, "Now." (If you didn't remember, I do not blame you. That page as a whole ass month ago.) For now, all I can say is: we're really about to find out why this comic is called "Keeping Time"!!
