Maomao poured high proof alcohol, sake is about 36 proof she's got stuff probably four times as strong. (edit) Prosopagnosia also called face blindness is a real disease.

2024-05-22 18:32:58 +0000 UTCI don't agree with "makes everyone around Maomao worse people" the Verdigris house could've thrown her out when she had a child and later got the disease. It ruined their reputation which had to be built back up (awful but it's still a business). Instead they kept her and took care of her when she could no longer work. Loumen provided medication to alleviate the pain and suffering as much as they could. They all protected her from someone they believed abandoned her and her child. But yes, a communication issue, if Lakan had returned in the 6 months like he had thought, this would be a whole different story.

2024-05-22 17:52:54 +0000 UTCI'm conflicted about the whole Lankan resolution... on one hand, I'm glad he didn't do anything to Maomao's mom, and the "happy ending" they both had. But the show did such a good job framing him as a piece of shit and the hatred Maomao showed towards him was so viceral and evident, that I feel the aithor decided at the last time that it was getting to heavy and tried to give everyone a get out of jail pass at the very last minute. And it makes everyone around Maomao worse people, the hag at the brothel, the three princesses, Maomao's dad and Lankan's uncle sat on their asses for 16 years, lettinb Maomao's mom rot without even attempting to do what Maomao did... and you cannot even excuse them by "oh but they didn't knew Lakan loved her" bc at the very least Memei knew and Maomao didn't knew either yet she fidured out he would choose her mother
