I watched the original Fruits Basket but only got about 1/3 of the way through the remake. Definitely recommend this one though. It’s a slice of life vibe with dark undertones that surface more as the show progresses.

2023-04-03 23:56:18 +0000 UTCFruits Basket indeed lures you in with calm and relaxing images and music, but if you think it’s your typical happy-go-lucky anime you’d be sorely mistaken. Every character is tied to a dark past, and all of them went and are going through suffering and pain; while on the surface you see light, there are many dark undertones beneath it. And the anime doesn’t shy away from hitting you in the face with those themes when you least expect it (past traumas, depression).
