2022-12-04 09:48:52 +0000 UTCWhy Eren didn't fully transform- in the manga, Hange did experiments with Eren in Titan form PRIOR to the one shown in the anime. In the first experiment Hange gave Eren instructions to follow, writing for him to copy, etc etc. Eren passed this with flying colours. The second experiment, with Eren transforming for a second time in quick succession, Hange repeated the first experiment, except this time Eren couldn't understand the instructions and couldn't copy the writing and kinda freaked out and ran on impulse as a titan until he was cut out of his titan form. The third experiment- the one shown in the anime, Eren was too exhausted from his two previous transformations to become his full titan self, thus he had lost muscle and was sticking out. If you think back to season 1- first time he appeared as a titan, he was cognizant in his desires to kill titans. Second transformation was as a half titan to protect Mikasa and Armin from the canon ball, very simple and quick titan- it had a goal, fulfilled it and then disappeared. But STILL, it would have used up a lot of energy for Eren to create it. Third transformation was when he was supposed to move the boulder, and if you'll remember, he was confused, he struck out at Mikasa, and fell to the ground unmoving for a time. Similar thing happened here. Buuuuuut, by doing these experiments, Eren/Hange will come to understand his limitations and abilities; and potentially work out when these can be pushed to gain stamina/new abilities. (like working out/building muscles, but with titans! 😀 I know which I would prefer to be a part of!) Season 3 altered a lot from the original manga to the anime, so this isn't the only instance where something in the manga isn't in the anime but does rely on the manga for context. I'm sure I or someone else will happily fill in the blanks when it comes time to share 😊 Also, the opening song for the first part of season 3- as far as openings go, it is my least favourite. I like it as a song if it appears in my playlist and will happily listen/sing along. I just don't like it as an opening to AOT. Just my personal opinion. (I'm 7 minutes into the episode/reaction- I've spent more time writing this explanation out than I have watched in the video thus far- better get back to it).
