Lab Area Done

First iteration of the proper scifi lab area.

Next step is to connect it, the mansion, real world and story into a coherent experience.

If you're looking for that I suggest waiting a few more weeks. If you're willing to test for bugs and give feedback, it speeds up the process. Most QoL improvements were made due to requests and suggestions.

I'm more or less happy how it turned out. There's a lot of space to expand, improve and add stuff.

Following that, there are several routes I can take: work on forest or meatworld area, real world things to do, implement more story, finally add sounds etc.


Some important details for this update: 

Area resets if you reach an exit or max out stamina. Things the player character learns do not reset.

Some items are used on certain object. I.E you can defrost something by selecting it in the inventory near a microwave in the kitchen.

There are multiple solutions to most problems.

There are no new encounter

Opening a door for the first time adds 1 stamina.

Most interactions that fade the screen add 5 stamina. Some that don't - do it as well.

Scenes add 20 stamina.

I've omitted use of will, body and mind for testing.

So how will this work when connected?

For me the goal is to preoccupy players with enough stumbling around and vague puzzles to last several dream cycles, while story stuff happens. It's somewhat difficult to balance as I don't want to turn it into King's Quest, but I can't produce content fast enough to not really on some repetition.

For you, the dream ends when stamina reaches 100, so I guess you can set the goal to last the night with no weirdness happening. But that doesn't really achieve anything, as sooner or later Mind will plummet and cause nightmares. 

Maybe you want to see as much as possible and don't care about roleplaying for purity, then the problem solves itself. That said, too much indulgence will impact health. At the moment I have some precision mazes set up for that. Later on "dying" too much will affect story segments negatively, but that's gonna be a while from now.

So I guess the gameplay loop is to explore and find a way to trivialize dream impact, which involves finding access to connected area and bringing items that can be used there. While everything will always reset, player character will not.

-v2 Fixed pressing escape crash, Fixed some door issues with wrong card key detection

-v3 Lockpicked doors were making items disappear.

-v4 last hotfix made wide door permanently lock up after unlocking. Fixed.

-v5 last update broke fading to black, which rippled across a lot of scripts. Fixed

-v6 Made Purple chemical easier to find and get. I think I can assume noone managed to complete the "antidote" for squidrabbit.
Set squid, widow and banshee cum to reset on respawn to prevent potential softlock.

That's pleasant to hear. Other creatures will appear on other maps. It would be boring if every area had everything on it. And I simply can't produce content fast enough to populate every location with an abundant amount of unique encounters. Some of them are also disabled, because ironically most of them cause pregnancy, which I want to happen later on. About level resets. My hope here is to create enough alternative puzzle solutions that it will ripple into different outcomes. I want to release a mansion + lab conjoined area over the weekend for testing, before I start working on connecting the intro and real world. Let's see how much sense it makes at that point.

I really like the world building and level design you have chosen here. While I don't like the fact there is no way to mitigate the level reset, I think you've out-done yourself with this one. I was wondering where the Harlequin and other creatures have went but, I think for what you have managed to pull off as a sole indie dev at this stage is impressive.

Ah, my bad. It's in the lab to the left, At the most left bottom corner. Might be a bug, but one of the dialogues should make it become collectable. I'll upload a version there it's just there. Though I've done a lot of work since then, and haven't done any compatibility testing.

i already have the formulas, and am able to obtain almost every ingredient. the only thing i seem to be unable to find is the purple vial that is used the craft the c-delta compound

Yes. There is a computer and an "ipad" in the living quarters that expand the formulas.

V4. seems to have even more troubles, when I try to get the the empty cup filled under the shower it just vanishes. Edit, would be nice to have a discord or something to report bugs in an easier way.

Dream areas are meant to reset each time, along side the inventory. You can drop items on the ground anywhere. Real world does have storage for food and clothes. I haven't consider other items yet.

Consider this, an constructive criticism. You should make a linear story without much exploration. The problem of having many options in a single room causes one event to corrupt the other. Another recommendation is to add to the game, something to store items. Surely you have noticed that there are bugs that duplicate items and fill the inventory with useless objects. Changing the subject, thank you for updating the game and I hope you can improve in story. ^^

There is another computer that unlocks more recipes. It's probably not apparent because the admin pc is accessed easier than the lab, but initially the recipe isn't there at all.

I am totally failing at the puzzle, i think i am missing a crucial step. I understood the "recipe" at the admin computer, yet i dont get how to "mix" the missing component. any help?

You can cut on most of the area that's covered by the stuff. Honestly, I forgot I was going to add the same effect to the squid rabbit. Not sure what's wrong with the wrench. Is the saw getting picked up fine?

This error appears whenever trying to cut off the tentacles on the defeated Squid Rabbit. Another glitch I encountered was the storage closet not allowing me to get the wrench whenever I started a new game.
