Question about render styles

Hey guys,

I'm messing around with lighting/render styles to try to make the characters pop a bit more. Which of these renders appeals the most to you?

1. Regular lighting 

2. "Fake" lighting 

3. Hybrid lighting

The scene is a bad example for hybrid light or hybrid light is stupid. Or does the door shine so bright so the character is shining too? Makes no sense for me. If the door was opened and there is a brighter source behind then it would make sense. But in this case I cannot see an open door.

Hybrid looks more natural.From picture looks like light is behind character and with shadow a bit more as if there is light from behind.

Hybrid looks like there's some light reflected on the character from the door, which is more like RL. I would suggest somewhere in between regular and hybris as shown for realism in that image.

it's a style and that is a choice, there is no "better", just personal preference. That being said, I dabble in photography and the Fake-, and to an obviously lesser degree, Hybrid-look looks weird to me, because the light isn't coming from anywhere. Maybe the given example is an extreme one, but the room looks unlit, shortly before dusk, it makes sense to not make out every detail. Turning on a light in the room would solve the issue, that's what a real person in the room would do as well. Assuming of course, that the renderer supports bounce lights, or however that is called in-engine.

Fake lighting might be interesting at certain points, but definitely not the whole game

I don't get what to love about hybrid style or even fake. The edges are way too sharp and get an atmosphere that is really unreal.
