A good filler episode Solid C rating.

2024-10-27 06:39:03 +0000 UTCAnd in this episode, we have one of the best moments in all of Star Trek history, It’s when the girlfriend meets the ex although it’s hard to define which one is the ex When Beverlly, is about to take Vash on a tour of the ship, you can see that Picard is 110% flustered It doesn’t save the episode, but it always brings a smile to my face I rated this one to be due to the level of humor in it that saves the bad storytelling

2024-10-26 17:14:25 +0000 UTCEnd of this episode has quite a few character flashes of significance, it injects an outrageous amount of comedy into the episode and fails to hit the mark of being a quality Star Trek episode, but it’s still too fun to ignore no matter how much it is out of place and not the Form of Star Trek. I am used to. However, Q turns the form of Star Trek on its side more often than not for example when he brought Ryker off to the planet with the weird French revolution, animal soldiers, it wasn’t really what I was used to from Star Trek, but it was still good and that is the fate of Q to bring strange twist that are completely unexpected.

2024-10-22 06:29:30 +0000 UTCIt's a C for me -- not terrible, memorably goofy, but ultimately not what I want or expect out of Star Trek. For some reason, it seems like this one played all the time in mid-90s syndication, so I've seen it a bunch of times. There are a few really funny moments, and I'm sure from an acting standpoint, it was refreshing for the cast.

2024-10-20 00:25:54 +0000 UTCGotta rate this D only because no other episode deserves to sit in E with Code of Honor.
Christopher Boutwell
2024-10-19 00:00:09 +0000 UTCI can only give this a C, and that's being generous because I like the comedy moments. I like having Vash back, i think it's fair to say i liked Captain's Holiday more than Josh and Alex lol. I'm just not into Robin Hood though. However Worf smashing that instrument is my favourite moment, it's something I often feel like doing...i can't help now having a mental image of Worf at Spock's funeral and smashing Scotty's bagpipes😂😂😂
jon bolton
2024-10-18 18:39:43 +0000 UTCAs much as I hesitate to draw attention to this little coincidence, it is episode 20 of season 4, and it did originally air on the 20th day of April, 1991. So we can, perhaps, excuse it being a little... trippy.

2024-10-18 15:02:09 +0000 UTCGood B episode. Plenty of comedy, I have a feeling Patrick Stewart had fun with this episode.

2024-10-17 19:48:17 +0000 UTCI'm going to be very very nice here: For the love of God I really hate this episode; so much that it almost pisses me off. There. I was being nice. This goes up there with Captain's Holiday for me. Which of the two is worse for you guys? Am I alone?

2024-10-17 19:46:32 +0000 UTCThis is a really fun episode and a good Q episode in my opinion and A tier overall and I like how Vash completely surprised Q by manipulating Sir Guy and they end up exploring the galaxy together. Great episode

2024-10-17 02:26:56 +0000 UTCI gave this an S. Not because it deserves it, I know it is a fine B episode. But I am rating it as I would have in the early 90's when I first saw it and loved it. I mean Patrick Stewart was clearly having a blast!
Sean Richard
2024-10-16 23:24:04 +0000 UTCI love this episode, though I suspect you guys may not. Only misses an S from me because of a behind the scene detail. McFadden and Sirtis were actually the only cast members with prior fencing experience buy they weren't given swords because of some bullshit about it not being period appropriate. In a Q fantasy based on 19/20th century retellings of a story in which virtually no details are correct to the theoretical 11th century setting! To say nothing of the fact that Star Trek likes to pretend it features progressive gender roles. They do try but the shows are also very clearly products of their time. For example, Troi is consistently written, costumed, and shot for male-gaze fanservice in a way that none of the male regulars are.

2024-10-16 20:59:39 +0000 UTCIt's really just a fun episode and i love it for the bit of sillyness. Also looks like the Crew had tremendous fun with it. Beverly showing her arround and haven the Woman talk, Picard feeling uncomftable, Vash beeing Vash, that little things like the drumstick in Datas hand. I just love that easiness of the play.

2024-10-16 11:42:47 +0000 UTCIf I wasn’t in before the turkey drumstick, I certainly was in after it. I think it’s tremendous fun. Check your brain at the door. It IS episode 4.20 after all.

2024-10-15 15:26:12 +0000 UTCIn fairness it’s probably between those two.
Darren Seal
2024-10-15 14:37:47 +0000 UTCWhile I appreciate the cast getting to have a fun change of pace, this is a very mediocre C tier to me. 2nd worst Q ep after Hide and Q. Q Who elevate the character from trickster god to a sort of tough love mentor, guiding humanity in their journey of both space exploration and self discovery. Here he orchestrates this scenario to what, make Picard appreciate his sort of girlfriend right before he steals her from him? Big step backward. Also who turns down a gift from an omnipotent being? At least ask him to give you your hair back😄.
Timothy Nikiforovs
2024-10-15 09:47:20 +0000 UTCAgreed, though I still think Hide and Q is worse

2024-10-15 09:28:34 +0000 UTC"I am not a Merry Man." and "Sorry." are two of my favourite Worf lines from the series. Always the best.
Matt Duborg
2024-10-15 06:41:55 +0000 UTCIt's "okay." Aside for a couple of standouts, most Q episodes are just.. middle of the pack, like this. It has some fun moments.
Ian Westcott
2024-10-15 05:58:38 +0000 UTCQ is probably my favorite TNG character, but this episode borders on awful. It's my least favorite Q episode of TNG. There are some great one-liners in this though, probably what saved it from getting an 'E' from me. This is the worst episode of season 4.
Ron Hubbard Jr
2024-10-15 05:00:23 +0000 UTCThis one is just alright for me. It makes a lot of top episode lists around the internet, but to me it’s just a slightly better than run of the mill episode. Worf was the best part between his stance of being a merry man and smashing Geordi’s instrument.
Brian Moore
2024-10-15 03:25:07 +0000 UTCYou probably won't like this because Vash is back, but it is amusing. Worf has one of his funniest lines in the series, and that's saying something. My ranking is "Enjoyable".
KatWithAttitude
2024-10-15 02:56:30 +0000 UTCSomething that I feel that Trek loses--going into DS9 and Voyager--is unabashed, confident, based absurdities. This episode is a testament to that old approach, especially prevalent in TOS. I'm overwhelmed by the silliness and charm of this episode, and I like to think that the people on set had fun with it as well. I'll be intrigued to see how you feel about Vash's return. I didn't hate Captain's Holiday, but I usually skipped it because of how boring it felt as a child. This one, though, is thoroughly entertaining, and perhaps it's a personal bias to say that I was always borderline intrigued by the silly "almost-chemistry" between Vash and Picard... even it's ultimately a half-hearted cop-out to "what might have been" in another romantic continuity.

2024-10-15 01:56:52 +0000 UTCPrediction: you’re going to like Q this time out, but NOT like Vash’s return.
tyranusfan
2024-10-15 01:42:49 +0000 UTCOne of those fun, silly episodes Star Trek does occasionally. This one stands out for its humour. Worf smashing Geordi's lute and Deanna shooting Data are priceless.
Regan
2024-10-15 01:38:02 +0000 UTCI find this episode hokey but still very entertaining. However, there is less suspense in the plot than in whether TA's ongoing love of Q will override the previous dislike of Vash. I predict that the guys will be at their merriest when Worf utters one of his all-time classic lines...

2024-10-15 00:27:19 +0000 UTCq elevates an otherwise d to c for me.
Tony B
2024-10-15 00:27:18 +0000 UTCFUNNY... and FUN. But you didn't like Captain's Holiday, so I'm not certain how you will feel about this one. I like it. Worf steals the show and chews up every scene he is in.

2024-10-14 23:58:20 +0000 UTCQ takes the crew of the Enterprise on a jaunt in Sherwood Forest. S4E20... coincidence? Most people seem to consider this episode mid but its my favorite Q episode.
Tristan Rose
2024-10-14 23:37:41 +0000 UTCThis is what a Q episode should be. It's not just a problem the Enterprise encounters and then Q happens to be there. There's no way into this scenario without Q.
Nerd's Gold
2024-10-14 23:07:31 +0000 UTCThis episode is in season 4? Could have sworn it was in 2.

2024-10-14 21:29:03 +0000 UTCSir Patrick gets to play Robin Hood after already playing King Richard in Robin Hood men in tights. Deanna shoots an arrow into data and worf is not a merry man all round good chuckle episode solid B for me
LonghillAndy
2024-10-14 21:07:01 +0000 UTCGoofy Q episode with a Q pun spoilerly episode name, which A&J both hated last time with 'Deja Q'. Now, mixed in with a returning Vash, from the cringe 'Captains Holiday'. Logic dictates they should detest this one based on the ingredients...? They'll probably give it an S 😆
The Ninth Doctor
2024-10-14 20:56:11 +0000 UTCB-Tier, really good, 7.4/10. I love forest settings as they are very cool. Same with sword fights. This episode is ridiculous but pulls it off well. Q is always a good way to make a goofy premise like this have stakes without being just another holodeck malfunction. Watching this ep makes me a merry man :)
Steven Cressler
2024-10-14 20:39:00 +0000 UTCAlways surprises me how popular this episode is. Take away the legitimately funny memes / individual lines and what's left? Boring and silly. Gets a D only because of the great memes (e.g. "I am NOT a merry man!"), otherwise would get a E from me.
Lovok
2024-10-14 20:28:00 +0000 UTCSomething about this I like. Really makes me like Vash more

2024-10-14 20:06:30 +0000 UTCBumped up to A tier for me just for the line "Sir, I protest, I AM NOT A MERRY MAN!" hah.

2024-10-14 19:49:35 +0000 UTCEasily one of the worst Q episodes. Only entertaining part of this episode is Worf.
Spencer Loften
2024-10-14 19:07:25 +0000 UTCOne of the more pointless examples of how to use Q. I also hate that Worf...a guy who is supposed to be trained in hand held melee weapons, gets bodied so easily by the sheriff. Still gave it a C though. The early interactions of Vaush on the ship are good
Greg Quinn
2024-10-14 18:31:04 +0000 UTCA nice break from the Enterprise in a scenic area.

2024-10-14 17:45:14 +0000 UTCI'm 51. I definitely know what a rerun is. :) Unfortunately, I was born too late to catch all of the really good movies in theaters, so I have to buy them on iTunes and Amazon (or DVD/blu-ray) but I try to watch as many as I can.
wildhunt1973
2024-10-14 17:01:51 +0000 UTCYes it was! And I grew up watching that movie in reruns (you young’uns might not know what rerun is😄). Because my family watched that movie numerous times I enjoyed this even more than many I think
Crankygrandma
2024-10-14 16:56:21 +0000 UTCI was torn between A and B, but I gave it an A. It’s just so much gosh darn fun. And a tip of the hat to the old Errol Flynn Robin Hood movie. (You guys should add that to your list). I don’t think you will like this episode as much as I do because of your dislike of Vash.
Crankygrandma
2024-10-14 16:52:16 +0000 UTCC, a Q story with Vash in it? Robin Hood setting was really corny. Dr Crusher knoking out someone with a flower pot became a sexist meme all over the internet. They wernt up to par on this one.
Keith S
2024-10-14 16:43:30 +0000 UTCYour favorite character is back! This episode has some stand-out funny moments, but overall, despite the fun I bet everyone has, there's a good chance you two will NOT be merry men with this one.
Nolan
2024-10-14 16:43:07 +0000 UTCThe comic potential of the episode is great and I'm sure the cast and crew were ecstatic to get out of the studio for an extended period of time and dress up in silly costumes, but I always felt that the episode was either not funny enough or zany enough or didn't nail the Robin Hood vibe enough to really work. Out of all of the TNG episodes, this one felt the most like a throwback to TOS in premise and vibe and - ironically - its the TNG characters that save it from feeling dull and pedestrian. Also I'm a major Picard shipper and it frustrates me that the guy just can't catch a break with anyone for any decent length of time. Especially considering how moonstruck Vash is for him.
The Sultan
2024-10-14 16:13:18 +0000 UTCWorf is fun here. Everything else about the episode sucks. Bottom 5 episode of TNG
Jeffrey
2024-10-14 15:57:39 +0000 UTCYou guys may surprise me but I doubt it. All signs lead towards you guys absolutely hating this one. Worf has one comedy line you’ll laugh at. C tier ahoy
Phil Ken Sebben
2024-10-14 15:54:22 +0000 UTCOhhh boy. This one could really go either way for a lot of people. It's very silly and out there, and I can see why some would enjoy that while others might find it to be awful or cringe. Younger me had a good time with it, older me isn't really that charmed by it anymore. I felt generous in giving it a B, but I wouldn't be shocked if there's a wide spread of grades for this one between you guys and the audience. Always glad when Q pops up, but Vash doesn't do much for me. She's written as though Picard and Q think she's great, but I'm not a fan. I'm also not sure I buy Jean Luc being so into her.
Forbidden Donut
2024-10-14 15:48:05 +0000 UTCDefinite B episode. Silly, but enjoyable, although you guys might not like it at all.
Ryan Caulfield
2024-10-14 15:32:53 +0000 UTCI love this episode, but based on your reactions to "Deja Q" and "Captain's Holiday", I'm going to guess you'll hate it.
Steven Linden
2024-10-14 15:26:51 +0000 UTCYou might not hate this one as much as Captains Holiday because it doesn't try to bait and switch you, but it's still a pretty terrible episode in my opinion. It's an absolute waste of Q. Why would he care at all about Picard and Vash? For that matter, why does ANYONE care about Picard and Vash? It's fun if you let yourself get caught up in the camp, but that's about it. E from me for ERASE from cannon.
BN13
2024-10-14 15:15:37 +0000 UTCNow let's see here......returning guest character that the TA hated, same writer as well from that episode....Cliff Bole directing though....Q is also here.....yeah, not sure they'll like this one. I will say that this is maybe my least favorite Q episode in TNG
Elway Simpson
2024-10-14 15:07:02 +0000 UTCB for a Bit silly. Probably a C but Worf raises it a couple of notches.
Jon1701
2024-10-14 15:06:22 +0000 UTCMeme-worthyness > plot, but we can all tell how much FUN this was for the entire cast.
Ross Townsend
2024-10-14 14:55:32 +0000 UTCThis is a C for me, but I could be convinced to bump it to B tier on Worf's reactions alone!
Dennis Hall
2024-10-14 14:51:15 +0000 UTCI hate Vash, but Worf absolutely steals it in this one: "I am NOT a merry man!" Overall silly episode which I still mostly like despite its flaws.
Elizabeth N
2024-10-14 14:41:55 +0000 UTCIt’s a B for Bloody Great Fun, especially Worf’s one-liner and smashing Geordi’s musical instrument.
Paul Rymer
2024-10-14 14:33:46 +0000 UTCI like this episode overall. Reminded me a lot of the old Errol Flynn Robin Hood (which I'm sure it was completely based on), so the writers did a good job. Shows what a sleeze Vash really is. Loved that Q gave the scenario a life of its own. And Worf was perfect.
wildhunt1973
2024-10-14 14:26:40 +0000 UTCI have a soft spot for fun, goofy episodes that don’t take themselves too seriously. This one is a gem, through and through. “I must protest, I am not a merry man!”
Evan Guthrie
2024-10-14 14:13:42 +0000 UTCOn second thought, let's not go to the Enterprise this week. It is a silly place. You might like seeing Q again, which might make up for the fact that it's Vash again. Overall, my dislike of Q episodes in general (there's no sense of drama or suspense, because whatever is happening, Q can and will put it right again in the end, becuase he has the powers of a god) rates this a D-tier, even with the humor.
John
2024-10-14 14:08:54 +0000 UTCMichael Dorn steals the show on this one. "Sir, I protest, I am NOT a merry man!" followed by Worf smashing the lute and then quietly apologizing. Chef's kiss.
THE LORE!!!
2024-10-14 14:07:46 +0000 UTCA collection of fun moments with the cast does not a good episode make. The weakest Q story I think. If I was rating just Worf moments it would be S tier.
Darren Seal
2024-10-14 14:07:10 +0000 UTCYou guys might hate this one because you hated Vash in Captains Holiday but I like this one just because it’s fun to see the main cast have such a great time in camera. There’s a moment when they are in Sherwood Forest that shows Crusher smiling that captures that fun feeling the cast must have had. Worf “Captain I must protest, I am not a merry man!” Great. B tier for me.
marty63026
2024-10-14 14:04:06 +0000 UTCOverall a dull episode, but some of Worf’s best comedic moments.
