Is there gonna be a uncut version of this reaction somewhere?

Uriel Ventris

If the Target Audience can make Star Trek V watchable, they can do the same for Galactica 1980.

James H

If you two have fun watching it, you should keep watching it. Metrics aside, over time when the people creating the content are enjoying themselves, that's what brings people in and keeps them around. I watched BSG (this version) as it aired, and I mostly liked it. There's some amazing acting that happens. Rich character development, interesting twists and turns. I love your no-spoilers policy, and I'll adhere to it. For me, I felt like they dropped a few of the story balls they were juggling, but I don't regret for one moment the time I put into watching it. Rewatching it with you could be fun. Also, I came to really love the score. Bear McCreary is good at what he does. All that said, I came here for the Trek, and that's what I'll stick around for. Thank you for what you're doing; you're both great company. Cheers!

SageGreenGoat

interesting thing to consider with killing of the baby, that it a much quicker and less painful way to die then a nuke, so was it a act of mercy to spare the baby

Dark Kronis

Worst thing about CGI is that in 99% of cases it will never hold up against time. Practical stuff may look silly sometimes but great practical will always be great

Josh (Target Audience)

Funny you said you were not impressed by the fight scenes in space. Back in the day it was exactly those which blew our minds. There was nothing like it on TV before. And for my friends and me who had watched the original show it was a shock how dark and realistic the new BSG was. It's not really a spoiler to say that Ronald D. Moore did everything here he was not allowed to do on VOY.

Sam Langanke

Great reaction, glad you guys are overall quite positive with what you saw, I do hope the video gets lots of views and likes over on YouTube and you feel it's worth it to carry on into the series proper!

Jon Reid

I’m one of those old people who grew up watching the original show. I came into the remake as it released in my 20s very sceptical of it, and all the changes being made (gender swapping Starbuck? How dare you!), and may I say that I was blown away at how good the mini-series was. All my scepticism disappeared pretty much immediately, especially when Katee came onto the screen as Kara/Starbuck. She charmed the pants off me, so much so that if Katee Sackhoff is in a show or movie, I will watch it regardless of quality, purely because I know she will give a stellar performance. Thankfully the quality continues through to the rest of the series, and all the actors (Eddie Olmos, Mary McDonnell, and Micheal Hogan are absolute highlights) get some fantastic moments to show their acting skills, and the character development overall is spot on. I do have some issues towards the end of the series, which occurred thanks to a writer’s strike (all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again, *looks at the recent issues in Hollywood and TV and sighs*) , but overall I can’t recommend this show enough. Really hope this performs well for you. I want to see you guys react to the rest of the show eventually too.

Anthony Greene

I prefer the new BSG to the OG, but Calicos is a badass Baltar. He was a good Klingon in STToS too. Not sure he always gets recognized in 'Errand of Mercy'.

Kosh Naranek

Haven't you learned from 'Shades Of Grey'? B.G. 1980 is under quarantine for good reason. Avoid.

Numinous2019

I'm not speaking for Alan Thompson, but this reboot of B.G. was generally interpreted as being a commentary /SF perspective on the US war on terror/Iraq & Afghanistan occupations. I'm likely being too narrow about this, because of the need to avoid spoilers.

Numinous2019

🤣

Numinous2019

I watched the first season of the remake and stopped there. The style they were using was deliberately to put a bit of distance between the characters and the audience. This is more realistic, but it made it harder to connect with the characters, because the overall situation was being emphasised, not the personalities.

Numinous2019

I was never a huge fan of the original Battlestar Galactica but the characters were very likable people. They were people you grew to care about very quickly and that made an otherwise mediocre show very watchable. When I saw the remake, by the end of it I just wished that the cylons would come and put all of these wretched bastards out of their misery. Needles to say I didn't care for it.

Dan Krantz

it only gets better in season two when Diana Muldaur takes over the Starbuck role.

Ken R

Funny story: The first time I watched this series was with my ex. We had no idea the miniseries existed. At the time, Netflix did not have the mini-series available for streaming. So we started with "33". And that was such an intense, visceral, well-filmed experience, even not realizing we were missing an entire-ass movie, we were hooked and loved the show.

Tobias Sumrall

I’m not sure what your comment means, could you elaborate without spoilers?

Josh (Target Audience)

I'm not sure what a downer view of humanity you think this show presents, but its not happy viewing for a channel to commit to.

Alan Thompson

There used to be an early internet BSG meme. It was an Anger Spectrum, from Zero to Flashlight, in honor of Adama's fight with the Cylon.

tyranusfan

It's really good!

Monty Crawford

Going up against Calicos’ Baltar is like fighting Tyson in his prime

Josh (Target Audience)

I'm torn on Lorne Green's vs Eddie Olmos' Adama, but I can't help but favor Colicos' Baltar over James Callis'. I get it, different world, different character, but when Colicos came on screen, I smiled. Most of the time, when Callis came on screen, I usually cringed. (Not the actor's fault, the character.) I do favor Mike Hogan's Tigh over Terry Carter's. (Again, talking character not actor.)

Josh (Target Audience)

BSG 1980 definitely needs to be part of this journey in some way, but we aren’t sure in what capacity yet.

Josh (Target Audience)

Now, if you’re gonna be real completists you shouldn’t leave out Galactica 1980… as awful as it was.

James H

I’ll just say this again. Please don’t go further down this path until after Season 5 of TNG. You’ll thank me later.

Stephen Wright

In the original show the origin story is the same. The legend is that they went out from the planet Kobol (their original planet) and formed the 12 colonies, with a 13th tribe leaving Kobol for another planet called Earth instead of joining the rest.

Michael Ducharme

20 years I avoided buying this series...now I gotta have it. LOL!!!

Kosh Naranek

This was such an improvement over the 1978 version. Not only the CGI, but the characters and story as well.

Kosh Naranek

Yup. It’s though networking that the Cylons were known to hack into human computer systems

Tom Occhipinti

So, when I first watched the miniseries, I hated it. I absolutely despised it. Every time I watched it since, I have liked it more and more. I link the first episode of Battlestar Galactica (2004), titled "33" with the start of the golden age of television. BSG was the first show to have zero bad episodes in the first seasons. They also had no bad episodes in the second season. It wasn't until the third season where they had one bad episode. The quality of the new Battlestar can't be beat.... I hope y'all decide to watch it.

John

I waited for this condensed version to watch (sometimes i just don't have a couple of hours to spare) and you guys had great reactions. I had never seen this at all before the last year, wife and I decided to binge watch the entire series about a year ago. I'd always heard how good it was but at it's first airing I didn't have the capability of watching it. We both were pleasantly surprised at how GOOD it is. Well written and acted all throughout it's run. I'd say more but I can't without spoilers. I was a bit miffed about Starbuck being gender swapped but the character was well written and acted, not to mention hot. (I'm not going to go into what the entertainment media is doing to destroy any decent shows these days) So Say We All!!

Monty Crawford

I forgot to mention this before but in the original show the Cylons were not created by humanity, but by some other race from another planet that was Reptilian and they were also called Cylons, and they killed the Reptilian Cylons that created them. It was one of the changes made in the new show.

Michael Ducharme

Get the word out David!

Josh (Target Audience)

I hope this does well. So you will please, please, please continue with the rest of the show.

David Brown

I'm sure it will!

CounselorDurango

Hopefully this video does well!

Josh (Target Audience)

Gail - Right?! I mean HOW COULD THEY?! They also skipped Quantum Leap, Buffy, Farscape, Star Trek TOS and the list goes on. It’s madness, I tells ya! MADNESS!!!!

Shatner's Cigarette

Excellent reaction. I'm looking forward to seeing y'all watch more! The Battlestar reboot did a LOT for sci-fi in the 2000s. I actually remember watching this as a kid with my family when it was airing and I'm SO excited for y'all to see it for the first time too! And as y'all mentioned, you'll be seeing plenty more of Ronald D. Moore's work in Star Trek as well, so keep a lookout for that name in the writing/producing credits for the next few YEARS of Star Trek episodes (and movies) y'all will be watching.

CounselorDurango

We have to remember! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Josh (Target Audience)

“Alright Michael, you got big shoes to fill”

Josh (Target Audience)

Gail…

Josh (Target Audience)

Depends on the performance of this video!

Josh (Target Audience)

We will see how this video does!

Josh (Target Audience)

Love this series, glad you guys checked it out. Hope you continue with it! I think you’ll really click with it.

EnigmaticPenguin

Thanks for this vid guys. Knew the twists would make you sit up and take notice. Hope sometime in the future you'll continue to watch and react to this series.

Dru Blood

You skipped the first Battlestar Galactica series entirely. Why?

Gail Seaton Humbert

Michael Hogan as Col Tigh is the GOAT. He gets so much more fleshed out and faceted in the series itself. Love that character.

StonyD

Adama isn’t anti-tech. He’s anti-networked tech.

Tom Occhipinti

Some others commented about that, I have to go look for it still

Josh (Target Audience)

On the skim for the edit did you catch Serenity leaving Caprica City before Prezzy got her cancer diagnosis? Some people say in a couple of the fleet shots you can make out the TOS Enterprise and the Falcon, too.

Steven Johnson

And she’s awesome
