Comment on this post a question you would like us to answer about season 2 of Star Trek TNG in our upcoming season 2 LIVE recap stream a week from today. These questions will be read first before the YouTube Q&A during the LIVE.

You can ask as many questions as you'd like, but please only ask ONE question per comment. If you leave multiple questions in the same comment they will not be read.

TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC tier patrons will be giving us their top 5 episodes of the season to compile the "Patron Top 5" list for the stream. That post will come soon.

Do you have any idea if on YT and on Patreon how many viewers are watching TNG for the first time ?

Syl

Would you say that had you originally started this journey with TNG you'd be equally invested in this franchise as you were just after you had finished season 2 of TOS?

Captain Proton

They can work, but the reason things were mostly episodic was due to the fact you needed to atrract new viewers and serialization meant only people who started watching the show could follow. Back then you couldnt binge. The problem with non-serialized shows is the drama often rings false because a reset button is needed. Really starting in the 90s, semi-serialization proved popular, and networks who had underestimated the intelligences of audiences (plus the additional channels which meant shows didnt have to appeal to the lowest common denominator) changed the game where you could draw in fans by word of mouth to streaming shows and other things that had more complex long term story lines. Like novels, more time and story devolopment allow for greater investment i character. Now of course whenever there is a trend, there will be bad examples. But I think there is a "survivor" bias here, where people forget how many awful episodic shows there were. (or they are popular for nostalgia reasons)

David Kunard

Tea. Earl Grey. REALLY hot.

KatWithAttitude

Having watched Season 1 & 2 with you guys as you've went along, I've felt I've had to revise my long held belief that both of the first two Season are terrible. I now believe that Season 2 is generally worse than Season 1, as there are more bad episodes in Season 2, and whilst Season 1 does have them, more episodes are generally of a better quality than you'd think that make for a better Season. Do you guys feel the same way? (Starting a new people coming into obviously)

Alex Ooiue

If mostly-episodic shows like TNG worked so well, why do you think there's been such a shift to mostly-serialized shows?

Gweneviere

Do you feel like mostly-episodic shows like TNG make for a more enjoyable "formula" than mostly-serialized shows?

Gweneviere

After the pilot you predicted that Alex favorite character would be Data, and Josh's Riker. Has it turned out that way? Who are your favorite characters so far?

Andreas Schmitt

What's your biggest hope for the show going forward?

Andreas Schmitt

What do you miss in TNG that you loved in TOS?

Badger

We miss Yar but everything happens for a reason.

Evan Guthrie

The answer, in an objective sense, is no.

Evan Guthrie

Now that you've seen both Crusher and Pulaski for a full season, which do you prefer? I know you always loved to see Crusher when she came on, but it seems like you feel Pulaski grew into her own by the end.

Evan Guthrie

Which characters are you most interested in seeing developing over the course of the series? Data and Worf would be good choices, but I am curious if you have any others.

Firekrys FWO

LOL!

Jovet

How has your impression or "fandom" of science fiction changed since you started watching Star Trek?

Jovet

This season has some really clear top and bottom episodes. Some excellent and some awful.

Crankygrandma

Have you tried Fireball in Earl Grey yet?

Eric Singer

Can Alex think of ONE nice thing to say about Dr. Pulaski? :)

tyranusfan

You have access to a holodeck. Would you go someplace you've never been but always wanted to visit, do a Picard and go into your favorite book, would you go into the world of your favorite non-Trek movie or TV show, or would you go into TOS or TNG?

KatWithAttitude

Given that S1 was a better experience for you than we made it out to be, was S2 a surprise or a letdown? Any character moments that surprised or impressed you for good or bad?

Adam Reid

Good point. Would Worf had been developed as much as he has thus far if another main character had been present.

Collin Freeman

Do you guys feel like there's a difference at this point in the show between what makes a good TNG episode vs. a good TOS episode?

bab

Do you think Worf's growth as a character has benefited from Tasha Yar no longer being around?

Timothy Hennon

You've noted in your reactions that Season 2 is very uneven -- even compared to Season 1. What changes would you make to the release order of Season 2's episodes to improve this? (Specifically, which would have made the best premiere, finale, midpoint?)

Avaria

What is one thing from this season that you liked that youu wish would get touched on again? Is there anything from this season you think will get touched on again that you wish they wouldn't?

Elway Simpson

While I personally LIKE Season Two, you've gotten through the two least-liked seasons (according to the rest of the fandom). How does that feel... knowing it only gets better from here?

Darin Wagner

So which season do you like better out of the two?

TalynStarburst

Definitely, I came to ask the same thing

Andrew Duffy

Which episode or plot in TNG to date would you like to see a continuation of?

Paul Rymer

In the current era of television and streaming media -- do you think TNG would have made it to the 3rd Season? Why or why not?

Tom Occhipinti

my question - how is it that you guys are so awesome? love you always and can't wait for season 3!!

jan

Or not see again?

Collin Freeman

Oooo, I really like that one

Collin Freeman

I've revised my opinion of TNG season 2, while watching it through your eyes. At the time they first aired, I didn't usually say "this episode sucks". I was just happy to get more Star Trek. Yea, there are lousy episodes, but it's only later, looking at the series as a whole, I can pick and choose, and develop the early season bias.

startrekiborg

Compare and contrast your feelings about Diana Muldaur as an actress and her 2 roles in TOS and as Dr Pulaski in TNG.

Collin Freeman

We had some recurring guest characters return in Season 2. Aside from Lore (too easy) are their any characters from Season 1 that you wished they'd brought back for Season 2?

Ian Westcott

Have you seen any storylines or trends that you think will continue through future seasons?

Nerd's Gold

As Wesley grows and matures, do you find him less annoying? How much more of him would you like to see in upcoming seasons?

Gweneviere

What modern actors would you pick to play the characters in a reboot?

Jacob

What was your most liked and least liked moments of the season? (I don't mean episode, just moments)

Jacob

Now that you've seen a season's worth of both characters, what are your thoughts on the differences of Dr. Crusher and Dr. Pulaski?

Jacob

๐Ÿ˜

Numinous2019

Any changes to the cast you'd like to see? Elevate O'Brien and Guinan to full cast member, maybe? Get rid of "special guest star" Pulaski? Is there a position on a star ship like this that doesn't seem to have a role you'd like to see filled?

THE LORE!!!

What is one thing you would have added to Season 2?

Jonathan

Which Star Trek technology would you most wish you could use in your daily life?

Mark Moran

Riker grew a beard in Season 2. What if Picard started wearing a toupee in season 3?

Steven Johnson

Do you guys still think Pulaski is a bad Doctor, character, or person within the context of the show?

Just another Red Shirt

For each of you, what's something that was introduced in the first two seasons that you'd most want to see revisited in a future episode?

badvertised

How would you describe the differences in Picard and Kirk's command styles?

Neill Shaughness

Have you ever seen a worse season finale for any show? :)

valen

How long did it take you to get used to Geordi and Worf in their new uniforms after a whole season of them in the prior ones?

CM Waters

What was the most suprising thing youve seen so far in season 2?

Smokey C

You both talk to Captain Picard in the Observation Lounge and all he wants to talk about is the Prime Directive and your thoughts on it. What would you say to him and how do you think he would respond?

PIG

The first couple seasons of TNG borrow a lot from TOS/Phase II. What episodes of TNG S1/S2 feel the most TOS and which episodes break new ground where TNG is really becoming its own thing?

Kristina Weber

What's the worst/most disappointing/complete-waste-of-time episode out of the 48 episodes you have watched?

Shatner's Cigarette

Are there any characters from season 2 that you hope to see again?

Matthew McKinnon-Gray

I know this might be covered in your top 5 view, but my question is this for season 2: If you could only recommend 1 episode from Season 2 to someone, what would it be? (Not necessarily the best episode but the one you say someone HAS to see)

Terrell Harkness

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one episode of TNG from S1 and S2, which episode would it be and why is it The Measure of A Man? lol

Shatner's Cigarette

Now that you've seen both of the "bad" seasons of TNG, what are your expectations for S3 and beyond?

Michael Mannisto

Since S1 and S2 are historically considered the low-bar for TNG compared to future seasons that put it on the pop-culture map along side TOS, which one is your favorite so far - S1 or S2?

Shatner's Cigarette

What do you guys think is the best Klingon/Worf episode so far? Weโ€™ve had a few now.

Mister Hope

Which character do you think has had the most growth this season?

Dion James Pitman

How do you feel Season 2 compares to Season 1?

Guillaume Bergeron

Who was your favorite guest character and or species from season 2?

Connor Fallon
