POLL: Audience Cut Edited Reactions

We want to gauge interest for EDITED versions of our Patreon exclusive movie reactions. This means there would be the full uncut reaction, followed by an edited reaction similar to how we do Star Trek. These would BOTH be exclusive to Patreon, although the edited versions could possibly make their way to YouTube at some point. Doing this would not affect our current Star Trek schedule.

Please vote on your level of interest in this, and leave feedback in the comments as well

I prefer to watch the unedited reactions, However, that is because I have access to the movie I have a large collection, in the case of predestination I still have not obtained a copy, so I haven’t been able to watch it in an edited version would be helpful However it seems like such a nuanced niche. It’s not as important to me as keeping your workload, reasonable and manageable and I’m already at the highest tier.

Thicketdweller

I prefer edited reaction for everything. I typically watch all the discussion videos on Patreon and watch any edited reactions that come to YouTube later. The time investment of having to sit still and use 2 devices to watch full length just isn't possible most of the time.

Faitestealer

Not to mention, we’ve usually seen these movies at least once or twice, so we don’t need to see the WHOLE thing, necessarily.

Pokeysaurus

I’m not really interested in the full-length reactions for non-Star-Trek stuff, but I’d happily watch the edited versions. (Finding the movies online and synchronizing is a pain).

Aramis Calcutt

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I will follow up on this in the upcoming live hangout stream on March 20th

Josh (Target Audience)

I just went unemployed (but plan to remedy that before the end of March), so paying for upgrades on any website or watch channel (including Paramount-plus and others) is out of reach at this time .... but if it weren't I'd upgrade in a heartbeat. You guys are terrific and also as fun to watch and listen to as any Star Trek character. That's not a joke but is my honest perception of your Patreon page - please take that as the complement it's meant to be. (BTW, I hope you got my email challenge.........)

Rhett Coates

I don't currently watch the unedited movie reactions just because of the time investment required, and the hassle of finding the exact same version of each film and syncing it up. I'd definitely watch edited reactions, though. I don't think I'd pay the extra $75 CAD a year to upgrade from Audience Member to Target Demographic tiers just for edited movie reactions. There would need to either be other benefits or a smaller increase in cost.

Adam Zey

I'd watch them for a few episodes. Not many. Generally, for the weaker episodes, where I want to get your take, but don't want to invest the full time.

Tom Occhipinti

I'm easy either way. I prefer to watch unedited.

Monty Crawford

Sometimes I don’t always have the movie so an edited version would be easier to watch

Jon1701

I prefer edited versions where I don’t have to watch the full movie. Same with the shows too, I always wait for the second version.

TalynStarburst

depends on the movie, my interests are quite varied but also limited, but your commentary and analysis are so great it is worth watching

jan

For me, I’m really only interested in the Star Trek stuff

Turtleboy

If both are available, I'll watch both. I like seeing how they differ. But like others have said, it really comes down whether you 'want' to do the edits, if you think they'll help the channel/patreon, and they won't burn you out by adding to the work load

James Bottas

I probably would not upgrade to the highest tier if there were not a significant increase in frequency of movie reactions, since they're fewer and further between. I do like the edited movie reactions though because a movie is much more of a time commitment than an episode, plus obtaining my own copy is a hassle. So obviously I wouldn't complain if we started getting edited reactions at my current tier. But the patron exclusives don't leave me wanting so I'm fine either way.

Evan Guthrie

If it is an advantage for anyone in a lower or different tier, then I'm for it. Otherwise, I feel like the more redundant material you have to edit on any given week could eventually burn you out from all the work/viewings. So I would rather less work on your part, as the material we get already will remain tight and focused. And you won't appear on camera like you haven't slept in four days.

While I can see how some folks would enjoy the edited cuts, sitting down to watch things with you two is the experience I'm here for. Getting that vicarious first-watch experience, for me, includes seeing how you don't react to things, especially things I already know will be important later!

Julie Carter

Take care in expanding the workload and turn-around time for producing videos. I'd hate to think this will all just add up to increasing pressure on the TA team.

Numinous2019

One of the resons i liked edited content is it lets me know what scenes you think are important especially if it is a movie or tv show i know well its always Intresting to see what makes the cut

Who Cares reallly

Honestly I really should upgrade my tier just for the value I'm already getting from the channel. On the actual question though I'm not sure...if you guys are doing a movie I've seen and liked, I'll pretty much always want to watch the uncut version. If it's a movie I don't care about I pretty much wouldn't want to watch a reaction in either form?

JD Nevesytrof

I don't have a strong interest in movie reactions that are outside the Star Trek franchise (or very close relatives like Galaxy Quest). There are so many movie reaction channels - there's a lot of competition in that genre. But the Trek stuff, there are really few reactors and this channel does a good job of interrogating their opinions and the material. I really enjoy the reactions and discussions about that.

Kristina Weber

I wouldn't see any point in watching an edited version if there was an uncut reaction available.

Regan

Depends on mood I guess. So I chose, I’d watch edited at my current tier if available.

Shatner's Cigarette

Yeah the uncut reactions aren’t really part of this question because those are already available, this is just asking if there’s interest for the edited versions. If you watch all the uncut movie reactions already (based) then you probably wouldn’t have interest in the edited version, but maybe I’m wrong.

Josh (Target Audience)

I'd be down for edited reactions in addition to the full length ones. Some movies I like to watch along to, others I may just want to watch a trimmed down version. That brings said, I also wouldn't want you guys to do it if it's going to be a lot of extra editing work and become a chore.

Ca$hWednesday

I’m somewhat confused on what’s being asked. I think because I’m not dead-set on what my preference is. Honestly, I would watch either edited or uncut depending on my mood or depending on the film. If there was an option for what I explained here, I’d choose that one. For example, I absolutely enjoy watching your uncut reactions to TNG. That’s why I subscribed after watching some of your TNG edited reactions on YouTube. But I’ve only watched your edited TOS reactions. (Except for City on the Edge of Forever - I watched the uncut.) And I will watch every uncut reaction to all seven seasons of DS9, all four seasons of ENT uncut, but will probably watch 80% of VOY as edited reactions. I’ve recently rewatched Total Recall and The Abyss before coming across you guys, so I’ll watch the edited reactions when I get to it. But if you react to a movie I love and haven’t seen in a while, I will watch the uncut reaction. I’ve watched all TOS movies with you as uncut. So I need a “Both. Depending on my damn mood” option. 😂
