PATREON EXCLUSIVE UNCUT REACTION - The Omega Man (1971) - 90-Minute Classics

Here is our full uncut reaction to The Omega Man (1971)

Had to upload direct to Patreon due to the audio getting blocked on YouTube. We will need to find a solution to this as we transition to watching more in-person. We probably just need better mics that won't pick up the TV noise as much, but I'm not sure. Any advice on that appreciated.

We both really enjoyed this film, and have enjoyed doing this series on the Patreon. Exclusive movie reactions will probably take a backseat while we watch the Star Trek films in the coming months, but we plan on returning to this series as well as 'Our Favorite Movies' later this year!

Thank you for being a Patron & enjoy!

PATREON EXCLUSIVE UNCUT REACTION - The Omega Man (1971) - 90-Minute Classics

Comments

Mathias kills Richie because he blurted out that he had Neville's blood & could NEVER change now. Hence he was damned. Just as perverse a creature as Neville in The Family's eyes. Execution was the only recourse. Also, the tv reporter in flashbacks WAS Mathias! He even drops his name during the sign on.

This is probably my Favorite Charlton Heston Film....other than POTA Ben Hur.

Here's a movie for you -- 91 minutes, written Star Trek's City on the Edge of Forever Harlan Ellison, takes place in post-nuclear war America 2024 -- A Boy and His Dog -- with a young Don Johnson playing the boy. I've never seen it, but it seems appropriate for your channel.

Glad you enjoyed this so much I hadn't watched it probably since the 80's and remember enjoying it.

Hey guys! First, I've never liked "Dr. Strangelove" so thank you for validating my feelings about that film 😀 I haven't seen "The Omega Man" since I was a kid around 1980 - it terrified me! Between this film and "The Day After" I wad sure we would all die horribly - it was still the cold war. I liked it much more as an adult and I enjoyed your reaction a lot. Thanks for the reason to give it a re-watch!

I have always thought this movie was great. I’m glad you have seen it now. Another would be Soylent Green Some other great films he’s been in but are long The Ten Commandants, Ben-Hur, and The Agony and the Ecstasy he plays Michelangelo. I think it’s great you guys are watching older sci-fi to see how good these actors and directors are

Although probably not in your typical playlist of movies you have not seen but should see. Both Ben Hur and the 50s 10 Commandments both staring Charleton Heston made him the big movie star icon. The 70s sci fi is wherevhe showed he was the real deal as a movie star. He desperately wanted to play Sherrif Brody in Jaws but Speilberg wisely did not want an overpowering movie star in the role. I know you'll eventually get to it but Rollerball is the best paced of the 70s sci fi classics. You'll see when you eventually watch it

Sherman Lin

if you like this, you'll like Heston's other 70's sci-fi effort: Soylent Green. And, of course, you can't talk about Heston and science fiction without mentioning one of the iconic science fiction films of all time, the 1968 Planet of the Apes.

Rob

Awesome, glad you found a solution that wasn’t too difficult

Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan! We are watching on a TV so I am not sure what would go into pairing the TV with headphones, but I found a voice isolation tool in my editing software and uploaded a 5 minute test to youtube and it was not blocked. Hopefully that along with turning the TV down a bit, and eventually getting better mics will solve the issue.

Most people who don’t just upload the whole reaction with full video use earbuds if you can hear well enough to interact with each other with them in. Uploading to patreon works fine for me if it doesn’t cause you new problems
