There is also some "Daystrom Award", I believe, in later series.

William Marshall as Blackula was part of my childhood in the 70s.

I am really excited about you doing the last episode of season 2 live. It is a top 10 for me - and I think Josh, in particular, will like it. Some people, however, just don't care for it. There are a couple of moderately famous actors who make a name for themselves in the 70s and 80s - so the acting is good. I think the plot is sound, and it draws on some lore from previous episodes. To top it off it has some humor. There was a lot of effort put into it for a particular reason - but I won't go into that here. As far as the next one goes - it is kind of like "A Piece of the Action" - really liked it as a kid but it has dropped down on the list as an adult. By the way if you guys want a good old fashion gangster movie try "Saint Valentine's Day Massacre". It was the first movie for grown ups(saw it around age 7) I actually paid attention to - it has really stood the test of time. I think it would pair well with "A Piece of the Action" if you ever go back and watch it again. A kind of compare and contrast - serious reality versus Star Trek.

William Marshall did lots of other good work, including playing a vampire in one famous horror film, and he did a great Othello too. KatWithAttitude is right to point out that the name Daystrom casts a very long shadow in the later Trek series, especially TNG.

Dr. Daystrom is mentioned multiple times in some of the other ST series, or at least the Daystrom Institute is.

One moment I always thought a little funny within the drama, was McCoy listening to Daystrom rant and remark "he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown if not insanity!" So Kirk's reaction is to step over and push Daystrom over the edge!
