Hi everyone!
I am happy to say that the renders/dialogue are content complete -- meaning I have completed a rough draft of everything! So now it's editing mode, although I have gotten very far on the sub path already.
Editing Notes:
Sub Path: I have had three testers (these are more sub players so their context/input is more meaningful with vibe than tech) playing the sub path. They have eviscerated (this is a good word and I so happy they have looked at it carefully) the game with good feedback and all three caught a critical error I missed. (An incorrect scene jump) I have made the 100 render changes and am correcting about 100+ dialogue lines with little tweaks and also relooking and point balancing. (testing showed 1-2 things were very hard to get with points to trying to balance it better) While this is taking a bit more time than I hoped, the changes are really good and worth doing overall. I will add one more scene to the sub path from Test Version ---> Final Version. This was always planned because I want to get some early feedback about a few things from the prior scenes.
Dom Path: The script/dialogue is now done with a rough draft. There are three more scenes I wanted to add, but I will add one right now and see if I have time to add the other two before the Test Version as the dialogue is already done for all three. In Part 1, I worked on the dom path first and in Part 2 the sub side. This time around, the dom path is a bit shorter than the sub path but I will make the dom path longer in Part 3. (I will work on dom path first for Part 3, I am always reversing the order each update how I start.) I kind of wanted to add even more but I know it's time to get it out. I am arranging the same first two testers that did sub path (more tech/errors than vibe) and then after that I will first trust my fiance for the dom side testing and then branch out with two more people more inclined as dom players. I will be adding two scenes from the Test to Final (I really want these two in so will make sure) version but I may try and sneak one of them in this week if I am super fast on editing pace.
I will also have a poll soon on Patreon. In short, my assistant Anais is likely to have a preview scene for her game coming out someday as a possible bonus scene after the credits. Why I will have a poll is because this scene will contain two minor spoilers from Karlsson's Gambit as it is set 220 years after KG. So my poll will likely be about whether to include the spoilers at all, put a menu option to avoid the specific spoilers, or not even bother with including the scene entirely. To refresh the basic concept, it will take place 220 years after KG but it will have origin backgrounds to start which matter in minor ways in game later. (Her example is Dragon Age Origins) One of the backgrounds that can be chosen will be impacted by two canon endings (one dom/one sub side) meaning that players can "port" in that specific past if desired for both KG and even new players. (Dragon Age Keep is her example) I'll not say much more on it until she does, but I am worried about the spoilers, but keep in mind my game has really fifteen endings, so it doesn't really matter (or it's not necessary) to get a specific ending or not. It's just enjoy the game and explore your favorite endings!
Last -- Based on where I am now, I am pretty much done with the sub path. The dom path has cleared the content hurdle, so it's looking good for editing hard core. (I am likely to collapse about 12 hours today to celebrate finishing a rough draft) And then Monday, go hard again. So I would say the Test Version release is now in the category of "days" rather than "weeks" for a release. I hope to keep avoiding massive errors and working quickly to get it out ASAP! Thank you so much for everyone's patience -- I know my updates are too long/big but I'll address that next time. It's a bit too much even for me with compiling/editing. Expect a shorter update next time with more in the range of 2,000 renders versus I think now 4,600+!
Edit: I want to add one last thing. The character "Tess" will appear a bit more in this update, but this is not something to expect moving forward. This is something between myself and my mega Patron that we have talked about for a long time. So please do not expect this amount of content/renders with her beyond this update. She is and will remain a mostly side character absent some fun little nuggets here and there.
I will for the first time actually give a desired release date for the Test Version assuming things go well.
It is my intent/hope for the Test Version to release between December 21 to 24. While this is NOT a guarantee at all (I may run into something really bad I don't realize yet), it does show that I am confident about being very close to a release. I kind of want to go into Christmas and celebrate the holiday knowing I managed to get it out for all of you!
The Final Version (depends on Test feedback) typically is out not so long after the Test Version, and that version will have all features and everything in, etc.
When the Test Version comes out, please keep in mind it will be missing a few scenes and a few other key features. I will really appreciate any feedback and help especially with any CRASHES or bugs as those are the most critical issues. More minor but helpful errors are seeing inconsistent dialogues (referencing things that didn't happen in your prior saves) and things of that nature. Dialogue and render errors are being checked -- and will be again after Test is out -- but unless it's a gaping error I wouldn't worry as much about those as catching errors.
Ok...I was up a LONG time to get to this point, and going to completely relax today before getting into more on Monday! Thank you all!
Love,
Tess
